This game seems to spring up on this board every half a year or so, and then sinks back into obscurity. Here at Bay 12 we're people very much used to bloody murder, dismemberment, and violent wrestling, so what gives?

For the unenlighted, Toribash is a turn-based powered-ragdoll physics fighting game for two players. What this means is that instead of pushing a button to punch, you tell the torso/shoulder/elbow/hand joints which way to move, and end turn, then watch as your fighter pummels himself in the face because you forgot to reset the shoulder's move from last turn. It's pretty fun.

So, how about some fighting?

The old thread kind of died and nobody seemed to play anymore.

Anyway, Toribash is a game about beating the shit out of people by moving individual muscles. You can sever limbs, break bones and even jumpkick your opponent hard enough for a decapitation. Fun times.

If anyone's interested, there's usually a BAY12 room, called Bay12.
When you join, type "/op [answer]"
Remove the brackets and the question to the answer is: Who is the brother of the great toad?
No capitals and use his forum name.

Exactly. Except it's multiplayer too and there's different gamemodes, like antigravkatana.

The only things I don't like about Toribash are some of the "elite" members who flip out when you don't start to dance around in the arena and concentrate more on looking cool than playing the game and the amount of arseholes who can't handle the fact that they just lost a game. Maybe I'm just unlucky with this stuff.

I tend to smack people in the face, grab them by the head, lift my knees up, and kick them in the torso.

It's about as difficult.

It's about as difficult.
Except you have to worry about balance in three dimensions instead of two.

And you can only activate/deactivate muscles every ten frames.
And there's someone trying to kill you.

I just tried it, and I was playing around with the dummy.

I grabbed his head, and tried to slam him into the ground via rotating my body. I ended up ripping off my arm, then I used the momentum of my elbow (which I could still somehow control) to throw him to the ground to cushion me.

This'll be fun  :P

EDIT: Note to self: Do not headbutt.

I love Toribash, and have for around three years now, but I have a tendency to drop it after a month or so. The gameplay is nice, but has a couple of flaws, most notably that it feels like it takes place underwater. The actors are too quick to rotate their torso but too slow to strike or throw with any kind of speed. Of course, there's nothing else like it, so I'll probably keep coming back forever, but man do I wish I could grab Uke by the head and slam his face into a wall.

I was holding onto a guy and used that arm to swing my other arm to punch his head while also applying the swinging arms muscles. It broke off and flew away.
