Well, I can't answer what's happening, except for the dreams getting worse. Those are just getting reinforced by the other events - you get more stressed up and that makes the dreams more intense.

It's kind of like when you have a lot of nightmares, and start to be afraid of having going to sleep, which just increases stress just before you fall asleep, which causes more nightmares.

Hmm... I didn't mention the grease to her until after the first incident. It's possible she could have put it on the floor I guess, but that seems... very not like her.

As far as what kind the grease is - it's very very black, on the verge of looking powdery without. I don't think this picture is actually grease (who knows though, maybe eyeliner IS grease, I don't keep up on this stuff) but this picture is what I'm dealing with:

Thats actually a good deal heavier than what was on my face, thankfully, heh.


I'm wondering if the source couldn't be something outside... I think it might be on the face since I get home from work, and it may just take her a little while to notice? It's possible. MY memory of order of events is always pretty terrible, though. Still, that does give opportunities - subway, bike ride home, although I really don't see myself pressing my face up against greasy stuff on any part of the journey. Hmm...

And the floor smudge is really the most confusing bit. If it was, like, in front of the door or something that might make some more sense - maybe I tracked it in from outside? Forgetting my keys/phone/something is a daily ritual after all. But no, it was right in the very middle of the floor.

I will try to remember to take pictures if it happens again.

That would explain the floor stain, or you could have just slipped and faceplanted there without remembering it (how did you heal so fast, are you a mutant?)

Wow. Whack-a-doo. I'd suggest filming too, it's the quickest way to eliminate sleep-walking as a cause. Make sure you use two: one for you, one for the kitchen. Objectively speaking, the grease marks on the floor are the hardest to explain. So those would be what I would focus on.

And yeah, if I didn't know any better, I'd say someone is screwing with you. If you REALLY want answers, take a sample of "substance" down to a university material research lab and have it analyzed.

It's not really the substance itself that sounds strange to me....it's the volume. If that's coming out of your body while you sleep, there's something seriously up with you.

You're probably inadvertely touching something greasy before you go to bed leaving some of it on your fingers, and as you move around in the bed and scratch your face and such during sleep it gets smeared on your face. Since it mostly appears around your eyes nose and mouth, it'd make sense, since those are the facial areas most people touch with their hands during sleep. Don't have an hyphotesis for the grease in the kitchen though, maybe someone is pulling a prank on you.

The dreams can be explained by your brain interpretating the greasy feeling on your fingers and face. Dreams sometimes are adaptations of what your body is currently feeling as you sleep. If you have a greasy substance on your fingers and face and you can feel it as you sleep, your brain might give you a dream in which you're covered in grease.

Have you checked the ceiling in your kitchen, or maybe the oven? If it's in the middle of the floor it could have dribbled there from above. I also notice that ovens tend to have a lot of char in them, so that's also another possible source.
