I guess I'll make a suggestion  :)

Pray to Odin the All-Father for guidance in this most grave of situations.

Comm Sat (untampered with as yet)

TAMPER WITH THE COMM SAT IMMEDIATELY!

WHY does that guy have a Norwegian flag insignia in his armpit!? Is that the standard place to put it? Do Norwegians consider the armpit to be a place of honor or something?

On discovering that the engineers haven't yet set up the satellite as a distress beacon or taken off it's solar panels to use as a power source you order the work to be down immediately.
The engineers dissemble the satellite in record time and make a tower from scarp metal to place the transceiver on.
Solar panels are set up at the edge of camp with the satellites' capacitor providing a small bit of storage.
You now have electricity.

You take some time out to pray to Odin for guidence but Odin doesn't appear to respond.

Work on getting deeper into the ship continues with some success
There are few safe passages into it's depths but there are some.
Your engineers have spent considerable time trying to shore up the weak points of the ships structure so it doesn't collapse and putting out the smaller fires.
Despite their careful approach two of the workers were lightly wounded during their efforts and much of the ship is still very difficult to get to.

Eventually the geologists return from the chasm as the sun begins to approach the horizon.
The chasm itself has an overhanging lip at the top which makes climbing down into it hard.
This makes it a very unusual formation according to the geologists.
They still managed to make it to the bottom though and report that the walls were covered in a strange black algae.
But more surprisingly they found a human skeleton and a box of flares down there.

Unfortunately, I'm too lazy to get one of those new fangled tablet things. Or it could be I'm just a terrible artist ;D

Yeah, aaaanyway...

Order the geologists to strip and make some sand angels as punishment for not bringing back samples of the algae. Then have them go back and bring samples of the algae. Also order everyone else inside the ship for the night, on the off-chance that the geologists aren't enough to satiate the hunger of whatever crawls out of that chasm during the night and it comes looking for more. Post an unarmed lookout. Select the crewmember who can scream the loudest for this task.

While being punished the geologists complain that they hadn't anything that could transport it and were reluctant to handle an unknown organism with their bare hands.
A lot of the ship is still on fire (less so than when you crashed) and the ship itself was designed to spin to simulate graveity meaning most of the ship's decks are built in rings around the core of the vessel.
Your quaters for example are upside down near the top and are currently impossible to even reach
Not much of the ship is considered safe or useable.
Still the crew members opt to bring the wounded into the safer areas of the ship and have the healthier ones endure the night outside.

The geologists fresh from making blood stained sand angels and having their numerous cuts dressed wander back off to the chasm with some containers and climbing gear.
The temperature is already dropping and there is concern over just how cold it's going to get.

You stand in one of the hull breaches the warmth of it's interior contrasting with the cold air of outside.
Your retinue stand ever ready behind as you look out across the desert.
The fires still haven't fully died down and as the sun slowly fades, shrinking beneath the horizon, the light from the flames can be seen for miles around.

A lone lookout stands to attention some distance from the camp his eyes scanning for any movement.

Make mental note: Force cheeky geologists to eat samples of algae when if they return, at gunpoint if necessary. That'll learn 'em.

Order one of our goons to sing a mournful ballad lamenting our fate and yearning for home.

There's no need for ordering people to sing some of your crew memebers have gathered round camp fires with improvised instruments and are singing a slow mournful song.
Despite this you order one of your retinue to sing anyway but he sounds like a desprate frog attempting to escape the throat of a suffocating cat so you quickly order him to stop in case he kills himself in the attempt.

A loud shrill call is heard as the lookout summons you.
He calm points out in the distant west the two bright white lights that can be seen shooting through the sky.
As you watch them they suddenly change direction before vanishing into the distance.

Quick! Find some norwegian music on the youtubes!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YyKAqG7vr0&feature=related

Order the entire camp to be on high alert! Reassure them that King Haakon shall arrive shortly too.

Most of the crew is awake now and scanning for any strange lights.
You attempt to signal what ever they were with a flare but they have long since vanished.
Frantic discussions last most of the night distracting the crew from the bitter cold.
As mourning dawns the crew tend to the wounded and organises the camp a little better before again approching you and requesting directions as to what to do.
It seems in the night a number of the more heavily wounded crew members passed away

Worringly the geologists have yet to return from their nighttime trip to the chasm.
Their remaing coworkers are grumbling about your unfair treatment of them.

In other news you've only got one day's worth of clean drinkable left

Have the 6 engineers build an atmospheric water generator (or failing that a dehumidifier, We can probably fitler the unpottable water using a solar still.) Also have 2 engineer s design an air well and oversee it's construction.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_well_%28condenser%29

Next take 2 medical staff and one bioligist(you never know what could be on this planet, and someone could be hurt) and your bodyguards and go look for the geoligists, claiming "it's your responsibility as captain"

I'm hoping this place isn't like the planet in "pitch black"

Your engineers set to work on a number of radiative condensers made from materials taken from the ship, they say they'll be finished a set in an hour or two.
But an active atmospheric condenser is proving difficult due to the lack of refrigerant.
This block however was only temporary as your rather inventive engineers managed to find a method to produce ammonia gas which when compressed and decompressed would work for transferring heat.
A small prototype condenser is functioning in short order and your engineers set to work on a much larger version.

You organize a search party, lead by yourself to find the missing crew men.
With bodyguards in tow you march out from the camp, leaving the engineers to their work.

It's a short but surprisingly tough march across the desert sands.
Small holes and cervices hidden under the lose material waited to trip you up with every step.
The chasm lies before you, a crack in the desert sands.
A set of ropes hang over the edge fadding into the darkness below.
