Are you sure that's not a necromorph?

Have another burrowing gribbly.

That would certainly mess up the aesthetics of one's dining room.

Have them killed. Nothing solves a problem quite as effectively as simply having it killed.

They are tyranid trygons. You know. 40k. Older than Dead Space by about 30 years. Don't make me educate you with a bolt round to the head.

What does your dining room look like? This creature would be a centerpiece in mine.

I know 40k is first, I've just never played it  :P

Tomb Stalker would be a better example. They pass through walls without even scratching them, so considerate for Aesthetics ;]

They phase. Warping is a chaos/empyrian thing. Necrons are to the material universe what daemons are to the warp. Necrons phase and have inertialess drives instead of warp drives because they have mastered science and the mundane phsyics of reality. >.>

Warping in the sense of changing the material properties of said matter...

Don't you quote science on me in a universe that makes no sense whatsoever :p

And remove the burrowing tag from any creatures, assuming that creatures can be natural burrowers.  Though it's possible FBs and Clowns will always be able to spawn with the ability...

I think a creature that can pass through rock walls would be a SPLENDID addition!

[as long as it left the walls pretty much unchanged.]

Well stuff in df can't dig UP, right?
Also, I doyubt toady will make digging demons, considering that the moment a hostile shows up,(You don't need to know its there) it will move through anythin to get to your dorfs.

I really don't understand Aesthetics people dreading digging enemies. At present, do they dig out THE ENTIRE EMBARK SITE so everything is perfect? No, as I understand, they make a perfect FORTRESS and don't give much damn about the rest of the embark site. So really, this looks to me to boils down to "I don't want to have a military that can respond in a timely fashion to incoming diggers" or "I don't want to make my fort even grander by having anti-digger areas that are not officially my fort which can be sullied (or filled with magma)".

I assume detection of non-dwarves who are digging would give an announcement (e.g. "you have encountered wet stone") which you can then set init options to pause and centre on if this is extremely vital to you. So provided you are given fair warning that it's impending, I don't see why we need to shun digging enemies and neutrals.

Congrats, Psieye. This is the first time I've seen a derailed thread get put back on the rails.

The problem with enemy diggers is if they destroy your engraved stone you can't fix that.  Constructed walls can't be engraved and "natural wall" can't be replaced.  (Barring obsidian, which has its own problems.)
