I know this is not exactly the area for this topic but i just wanted us to arrive here at some point, i think its important to see everyone opinion.

Part of the glory of DF is the donation based system.  Toady isn't pandering to an audience, he's not meeting a sale's quota or finding his demographic, so the game can progress entirely how it wants.  There just happens to be a donation box, and it just happens to be so full that Toady can live off it.

I'd donate if I could (and I might attempt some form of donation drive via chainmaille...  $1 donated per purchase if you mention dwarves?)

I had some extra cash so I donated $20.  I think the time I have spent playing DF has been worth probably quite a bit more than what I have given.  When I have more disposable income, I will be sure to send more Toady's way.

I've donated, and really I'm due to donate again. I figure, if I played WoW, I'd be paying a lot more on a monthly basis for not nearly as much awesome. Last time I donated was JUST before the animal sponsorship drive, so I think I'll hold off a bit and see if they do another December drive of some kind- even if they don't, at least Toady can buy Scamps a nice Christmas gift. Think I'll ask for a Threetoe story this time...

Broke college student here, when I have enough money in my account for a month of gas I'll certainly toss at least a twenty for this amazing game.
