But what about old Julius and Augustus? No point in them having months, is it? We should rename them after the two first emperors in our current empires instead.

Happy 4th of Putinary!  :P
Lenintober, anyone?  :P

(yes, day should come before month).
Give me yyyymmdd, anytime.  Well, any time from 1/Jan/1 onwards but before 1/Jan/10,000, anyway.

;)

(Arguments between Gregor and Julius, excepted, I suppose.)

Too bad. This is the way it must be.

No it isn't.  Why change something that's not broken?

Seriously though...a date like "10 Sixthmonth" is either incredibly lazy or it comes off feeling like "Oldthink month 'June' is doubleplus ungood crimethink."
Here in Bosnia it's more common to call the months by their number than by their name. To the point that I have to stop and think when somebody gives me a date in the day number - month name format (yes, day should come before month).
Interesting. In Polish the names of the months are completely divorced from their numerical order. Instead we've got something like 'Flower-month'(kwiecień) for April, Leaves-fall-month(listopad) for November, etc.

No, we got those names too, it's just that nobody uses them. Also, listopad is October here, November is studeni.

I think that all months should be named using Welsh. That would solve all our problems.

Unsuprisingly, here in Wales we actually do that. Decide for yourself if it would solve any problems:

Ionawr  - Jan
Chwefror - Feb
Mawrth - March
Ebrill - April
Mai - May
Mehefin - June
Gorffennaf - July
Awst - August
Medi - Sept
Hydref - Oct
Tachwedd - Nov
Rhagfyr - Dec

Well, I pretty certain we can solve world hunger with that, but we might need more genuinely Welsh names for January, Mars, April and May to get world peace going.

In which case, I say that they must be at least 20 characters long with no vowels in them other than 'h', 'y' or 'w'.

However, this Sais can only suggest the following ones:

Drwsrhwyngyblynyddoedd
Ymiswedynydigrifyn
Hannerdirnodamynfydrwydd
Ysaesondimonddefnyddiotrillythyren

Noting that I've not made any attempt to put the correct mutations in, and never have any luck with grammar in all the non-English languages that I dabble with, especially the bit regarding gender... :)

Being creative with some of your phonetics and spelling, and ignoring the rules of grammar, translated into English those "sort of" read (from top to bottom)...

Door-some-in-tired-did

In-month-has-on-edition

Half-landmark-for-in-world-easy

The-english-but-just-use-at-drill-never-pyrene

Which are just fucking brilliant, frankly.

I can see I got some bits right.  It's entirely possible I typoed a bit, plus I claim myself as being barely more than a monoglot and I'm sure you'd not wish to argue. :)

Right, dating systems.  Please feel free to ignore this diversion, everyone.

Most of the differences occur where a letter or 2 is missed out (mutation in "the" allows me to add a "y" to certain words, or play around with an "n") or I deliberatley insert a word break to form 2 "funnier" words... :)

Anyway, derail over...
