Near the end of 2045, a scientist called Madison Hyde was unfortunately lost in an accident. He or she wasn't doing any work at the time, so that means their loss shouldn't slow us down much. We're ramping up safety measures in the research labs anyway, though. Many new officers have been graduating from the military academies as well, bringing our officer number back up from the culling. Later in February 2046, research into improving our construction rate was finished from last year. The leading scientist, Ellis Heath, was assigned to another project involving research efficiency but I've put that off for now in favor of increasing laser focal sizes to 12cm.
A scientist joined our team, specializing in missiles and kinetic weapons. Meanwhile, fighter parts are suffering several maintenance failures. Why do we even have these, anyway? I guess they're nice to have around for protection in case of invasion but not much else until we build carriers to take them elsewhere. Hang on that was a great idea.
A great achievement has been reached by the people of the Terran Federation. We finished research into Jump Point Theory, allowing us to build gravitational sensors so we'll be able to get out of this system. We'll need some other technology though, like gate construction modules and jump drives. Research into gravitational sensors has been started by Charlie Atkins. The project is slated to complete later this year in October. That's actually pretty quick. Meanwhile, the unrest level on Mars continues to fluctuate. I wish these people would make up their minds.
Two new scientists have joined us, Eve Mahmood and Zachary Doherty. They specialize in Power and Propulsion and Energy Weapons, respectively. Hopefully they will be able to help us in our exploration. The trickle of naval officers continues to flow. Commander Luke Marshall developed a medical problem that will most likely affect his health later on. I sent him a "Get Well Soon" card, I hope he appreciates it. Governing; am I doing it right?
Now it's October, and Charlie Atkins showed me the finished product of his research: working gravitational sensors. I'll have to design a ship with them. Finally, something to do! In other news, fighter parts are still failing. Nothing much else. Later Andrew Richardson demonstrated the new 12cm lasers. Look fine to me. I set him and the aforementioned Doherty man to work on turret tracking speeds and lasers higher in the light spectrum than plain old infrared. They're going to be finished sometime next year, 2047. Oh, and the first OH Megaformer was finished. We'll need the Heavy Tug to take it to Mars, though, and that's not going to be finished until the middle of 2048. Shame, too. Maybe we can terraform Earth?
Administrator and former governor before me Crustypeanut learned more about the inapproachable secret of population growth. I can only imagine how. Also, Owen Pratt, a specialist in construction and production, joined us. The infrastructure mentioned earlier finished, and is ready to be moved to Mars. Hopefully this will stop or at least suppress the
OBEY unrest on Mars. More and more fighter maintenance failures. It makes me wonder whether the designer of these fighters knew what he was doing. Of course. I shouldn't be questioning people with actual experience and knowledge.
It's February 2047. Doherty finished the visible light laser tech, now I'm focusing more on jump technology. Nothing important happened after that until April, when the civilian shipping company Ross Lines produced another Devon-class freighter. Good for them, although they're not important to my goal.
Later, in May, there was another culling of the force. Not as great as the other one though. Also, the beginnings of the first jump engine are starting to form. We'll be out of this system soon. We've also finished research involving shields
EMBRACE YOUR CULLING and turrets. As I write this log, Eve Mahmood is sending in the results of the research into max jump radius. While designing a lser with the new technology, I also decided to design EM and thermal sensors, as well as beta shields.
Well, it's almost 2048. Now we're cooking! We have all the requisite technology to build the first very basic jump drive. I've decided to put it and the sensor ship off until we've looked into a more efficient jump drive size, as the current one is quite large and can only be used on ships with little tonnage. On a sadder note, Colonel Georgia Potter was killed in an accident. This seems like too many accidents to me. I should investigate. The shields and thermal sensors were finished by the end of 2047.
Another scientist, Jason Allen, was killed. The accidents seem a little too purposeful to be true accidents. Is someone out to stop us? Terrorists?
Twin Cole laser turrets were developed. I should get around to designing a combat ship. I suppose we'll have to be content with the new Oregon class survey ship.

I've already begun retooling the Asgardian shipyard for production of these new ships in favor of the old Einherjar supply vessels that seem obsolete. Also, the construction of genetic modification centers on Earth has
STAY ASLEEP finished. These will be useful for later rulers, though I don't know what to do with them now.
At last, the first Heavy Puller ship was finished. I'll use it to drag the Megaformer to Mars immediately.
Now, the Mars colonists are in a state of unrest because we appear to not be providing enough protection. I don't care much about this, though. More and more medical problems are appearing among our officers. Why? At least the Asgardian shipyard is in an acceptable state to begin production of the Oregon class survey ships.
For the new year of 2049 I've also started research into meson cannon technology as they have proved to be able to go through shields, at least the shields we have available for testing on. We've also studied gauss cannons for use on fighters.
CONSUME Lastly, I'm designing a jump gate construction ship that will hopefully be able to be used with the Heavy Puller. What was the previous leader even thinking with the Megaformer anyway?
Ross Lines is proving to be quite the prominent company, as it launched yet another Devon class freighter. More of the same is happening: more officers and more unrest on Mars. Nothing much ever changes, and that's probably for the better. I'm still suspicious of the accidents, though they appear
CEASE REPRODUCTION to have stopped temporarily.
It's May 2049. I'm convinced of some inner corruption or something causing all these accidents and such. The recent death of scientist Owen Brooks has done nothing to stop this suspicion. I swear I will get to the bottom of this before I leave office. I've also made some changes to the plan of the construction ship, giving it engines so it can move on its own, slow as it may be. The yearly culling of the officers just happened.
Another death. Elizabeth Mitchell this time. Too many. Must investigate further. Corruption in the government seems like the only cause now. I heard of some fighters exploding. I knew the maintenance failures would catch up to us. Were they really maintenance failures, or were they sabotage? I've decided to stop thinking about such things, and finished up the design of the construction ship (designated Spruance) and a jump-capable combat cruiser, designated the Revenge.

I feel the Revenge is lacking in sensor strength, among other things, but it should be sufficient in its job of going through to unknown systems and fighting if necessary. The neutronium supply on Asteroid 17
DIE has been fully mined by civilian companies.
My term is coming to a close, and so is the mystery of the accidents. It was in fact someone in this very government. Apparently they are the reason for the attempts on violent suppression of the unrest on Mars, and general oppression of the common populace on Earth. It seems they've discovered this log, too. Some agents have probably already been sent to dispatch me. I don't think I have much longer in this universe. But I won't let their crimes go undiscovered. It was none other th
** LOG END **

So I was kind of writing this Earth's government to be sort of oppressive, and against the general people. I'm not sure if that fits, but whatever. Left a summary of the important stuff in the log file.
For the next player, when the Oregon ships pop out, be sure to re-TG them into Gravitational Survey 1 and 2. Also, the Federal Portsmouth shipyard needs more tonnage for the gate ship, though that's entirely up to you. I'd suggest starting research into better power plants and engines soon, ion engines can't last us forever (though they WILL last a long while.)
Save and stuff here, good luck!
