I'll have a room filled with water, so that I can work on my swimming skills while I sleep in my stone bed.

In all seriousness I'll go for a water well with pumps. There will be access to the water before it enters Baldal's room, so everyone can have fresh water, and he can have a water room to wait around in.

EDIT: Here is the last floor:

Spoiler: Hold (click to show/hide)

I left out a bunch of barrels, because I'll be drawing a lot of them later. I'll give the Naga a separate room with a slight floor depression.

That's a very nice looking ship you got there. Doing that reminds me of this:

Caravel is a good choice of ship.  In the hands of a good captain, it can escape from or catch pretty much anything.  In the hands of a great captain (with magic at her disposal), she should be the queen of the waves and fear nothing.  Since we are doing a sailing ship after all, can I have Gem use the Windsinger feat?

Also, I can't find Zako's character sheet.  I have a strict policy of not rooming with anyone who's character sheet I haven't seen.

Well, he looks harmless enough.  But I just know he's going to be the snoring type.

He doesn't snore, he makes his living by being quiet. Just keep an eye on your stuff and you should be fine.

This should totally be a buddy cop movie.  He makes a living being quiet.  She makes a living being loud.  Together they fight crime.

The 2nd to back room is where you got the water room? I'm thinking that design is much smarter than the brig plans I was thinking about. The brigs would cause issues with the ability to float I think, what with weighing 6 tons when both were full of water.

Also, Fool, Switch room 2 and 4. If they are 10' squares, as long as the bunk is wall to wall my troll should be able to take it.
Room 4 should have enough room for a small Kobold and a Naga. Something to think about, Room 4 is below the hottest part of the heat room. That might be best for the Naga. The Troll would probably be uncomfortable sleeping there anyway.

Grek, are we going with a 120 ton max load for the ship, or something else? Weight adds up fast, and determining what our range is once we got our standard load will be somewhat important probably.

From the Arms and Equipment Guide
Ballista: 1,500 lb.
Catapult, Heavy: Weight: 4,000 lb.
Catapult, Light: 2,000 lb.

The armament of 2 Ballista and 2 Light Catapults weighs 7000 lbs.
Then Rotating Platforms to ensure the Catapults can deliver broadsides on either sides for another 1000 lbs each.
We are now up to 4.1 tons and we haven't even gotten anything else on the ship there. With being an Iron ship, I don't imagine we have a lot of free weight to play with.

Which is superior- catapults or ballista? Ballista seem to be an optimum choice to me for ships, mostly because they are moving targets. If we replace the light catapults with ballista, then they would be lighter. Of course, I don't know the stats for either.

Catapults can not fire at things within 100 feet of them because it makes the trajectory too close. They also do a average of only half a point of damage more. But to balance that a catapult aims at a square and forces a reflex check whereas a ballista is a attack vs AC. A ballista will also impose a attack penalty on us because of it's size, but you could use it without that penalty (Which is a -4. -6 for the small people among us.) A ballista also only does half damage to other ships. Which drops its average 7.25 damage below the 'pult when firing on ships (Or structures.)

The abstract: Ballista can be better vs NPCs and the 'pult is better vs ships.

Yes.

Edit: Oh. Also. 'pults take a loooooooooooong time to aim. So if you are trying to shoot something that is not staying still relative to the 'pult you are out of luck.

Edit two: If we have two Ballistas I can cast enlarge person on someone so they cause use the one Edio is not on. They should be able to get about 6-7 shots in.

I say we scrap the catapults and go straight up ballistas.  In ship combat, we take out the enemy sails from a distance then leisurely finish them off or escape.  Against monsters we just go for maximum dps.

Ether way in a couple of levels it is a moot point since the maximum effectiveness in any case is ignoring the ship weapons and just attacking ourselves. Once we got some good loot I can stock up on stuff like wands of water breathing and dimension door. A wand of swim (assuming the GM will allow that spell in this game) may not be a bad investment.

Of course all that cost cash we don't have and will not have for a while.
