Fiddle with the trader's mind, cause him to trip while he is standing over a particularly sharp weapon. Walk around some more and see if there are any jobs or travel opportunities with other traders.

Ahh... bad. This is bad. Need to be in control. Don't want no repeat of last time. Still... could be more of these nearby. It can't hurt to check. Can resist if necessary. Know I can.

Khamisi studies the altar more closely and looks around for more of these rats

Barge out the door, crossbow drawn, ready to shoot at anyone running. If I see anyone running away from the shop, shout and if he doesn't stop, fire.

Stare for a few seconds, then walk out, planing a form of offensive that would not resolve in my demise.

(5) You manage to struggle free of the guards and sprint to a safe distance before tossing a knife at one! (5 + 1 = 6) The throwing knife zips through the air, slitting a guard's throat! It then travels around the group of guards like a boomerang. It (5) Slits another throat, (Three 6's in a row!) decapitates three more (!), (4) slices open the last guard's arm, and (2) narrowly misses a random bystander. It then flies back into your hand. Holy crap.

Mathean/wolfchild
You decide to look for your packmate. (4) You head back and come upon another passage. Just a few metres inside, you find him.

"Packmate", he says in a deep scottish accent, "I see you be here. Great! Now come on, we've gotta find the fool who be doin this."

"Any ideas where?" he says.

Your packmate is a hulking figure of around 6 feet and dark, unruly hair. He has a small beard.

You quickly decide he must be on the street. You rush towards the door and slam it open. You look out at the crowds (who are also shocked and looking at you) (1) and spot...no one running. They're all looking at you.

"Hey, what are you doing pointing that weapon at everyone!?" You hear someone say.

You look around your house for a few seconds and then slowly back out of your own house. (1) Unfortunately, you weren't quiet enough or you just smell. (1) You hear rapid steps out of the basement and decide to run. As you do however, the beast jumps out from the basement and pounces on you. (3vs3) Thankfully, you protect yourself with your trusty axe, although it seems to have done little to the creature.

The creature is what you'd get if you got a coyote, a wolf, and a wolverine, and combined it with a wendigo with several mutations. It's freaking fast.

Sinpwn/???

No one refuses an Ascendent, especially you. (1) You try to make him fall over on his rather pointy merchandise, but fail utterly. In fact, he's looking at you with the "I know what you did" face.

You run off and (2) somehow bump into an indian...a warrior from the looks of it. He doesn't look happy. Especially with all those pointy knives.

(2) You have a rusty knife and £5

(6) You look and look and look, but you can't find a storage facility or stock pile anywhere in the room or even in the place with the corpses. However, you do find $20 dollars and by complete accident, open up a secret passage by hitting a brick. There's no light in the passage.  (4) A fellow Ascendent (of the Lumiant) has found you. Alexis Lech, some immigrant from Poland. Used to be leader of a Lumiant Cell.

"Looks like you found something...We should go through the passage." He casts a spell and the whole passage is suddenly drenched in a green light.

You study the altar. (5) You know its pagan- there are strange symbols on it and   you know God doesn't ask for blood, he leaves that for vampires. Upon further inspection, you find a bowl filled with what seems to be mashed up eyes and tails...

(5) Looking around further, you find several other piles of rats, and even a few cages containing rats. You even find stairs upwards with even more rats. God, it's like this place is rat farm! (2) You find yourself buried in rat corpses. Again.

Aiden nodded at Alexis in greeting, before conjuring a ball of flame into my hand. Small, but enough to cast a more natural light through the passage way. "Don't you think natural light is much better than that depressing green light?" He said with a small smile, before he started moving along the passageway.

Head to the sewer exit nearest to hideout, get inside and clean clothes. Memorize the route here, though.

"My bad, my bad, people. I was just... exercising caution."

Go back inside, still holding the crossbow but pointing it downward.

Mathean/wolfchild

(3) Using your smell, you find that he went through that door...

"Well, we gotta be getting through this...Move, I'll do this." After nearly an hour, the door opens.

"See? Not to hard at all."

The two of you enter and follow the scent. It's faint and dry...But you chase it through the tunnels. (4) Eventually it grows stronger, more fresh and finally it feels as if your just behind him. "He's near, packmate."

You run around a corner and come upon another door-recently entered. Locked. (6) Both of you bash at it and easily get through. Inside you see some kind of machine, fluids, tools, and some flasks. On the right is some kind of circular alcove.

Your friend growls. "Bloody hells! He was just here, he must've used magic!" He looks at the alcove and sniffs it. "This was a portal...He's transported himself!"

Blasts!

"We can't be doin much but gather all the evidence we can...and report. The lead here is lost..."

Thomas Pike/_DivideByZero_

You put your weapon down and back away. You pull the sign and switch the shop to "close". That was...embarrassing You go and inside and search the floors, always pointing your crossbow. (3) After nearly 3 hours of searching the whole place you find something. A trap door hidden under a carpet under a cabinet.

(1vs1) Still shocked by the sudden attack it takes you time to strike at the beast, but the beast itself is slow. Perhaps still in some kind of shock. Never less, the bullet misses. (6vs4) The beast readies to pounce, but luckily you are able to reload fast enough to shoot him in the leg. He howls a blood curling roar, (2) which hurts.

Spoiler: Status (click to show/hide)

Sinpwn/???

You run, very very fast. (6) So fast in fact that you don't notice that you've run directly into another indian. (5) Thankfully, you sense magic in him, a shaman perhaps. He looks at you and understandably smiles. He gestures you to his hut, giving pause to the knife indian.

(2) You have a rusty knife and £5

Talarion/Aiden Clayworth

(3)"Hah! In Poland fire would kill you. Spooky light would scare off authorities." Both of you enter the passage. The passage itself is made up of brick and dirt.

After perhaps 10 minutes of travel, you sense magic. Strong concentrations...Even an Ascendent. (6) The eerie green light of Alexis' spell goes off and he shuts yours as well. "Can't let him know we here."

Both of you walk slowly and find a dark room. (5) You can make out several strange machinery and potions, books, and containers...This is no stockpile though. From what you can tell, the room is quite large. You can sense an Ascendent nearby and the residues of a powerful spell...

(1) In the distance you can see a figure move. "Huh? Ha ha ha ha ha!? Fools think, not see you!? Ha hahahaha!"

Damn.

"Agh, our stealth is lost. Cover your eyes." You do so and (4) Alexis casts a spell. The whole room goes bleeding white.

"UGGHH! DAMN YOU!" You hear the rogue say.

Spoiler: Status (click to show/hide)

Khamisi Saqqaf/Digital Hellhound

Ah...Maybe it's time to get back. Enough exploration for now. (4) In the distance you hear cackling and explosions...Not your problem. You travel the sewers and (6) quickly get back to the warehouse, bloated. You get a fresh suit of clothing. (5) You hear a knocking on the warehouse door. Going to the door, you hear them say something about the Society.

Carefully follow the shaman into his hut. Ask the dark ones if they know anything about this ascendent.

Try to get a good look at whoever's at the door from a window or similar. If I can't, get out from a back door and go around the warehouse to look at them.

((Properly paranoid, I am. Though I don't think these guys are Society, as they wouldn't have talked about it as a separate entity (if he heard them discussing 'the Society', that is). What's the relation between Akh Afzal and the Society anyhow?))
