The game that made me want to make this. I really doubt this RTD will be as good as that game.

Hi. This game lets you play out your fantasy of being a vampire/werewolf/whatever in the 19th century! Never had that fantasy? Well...nevermind about that then. And no, this isn't just WOD in the 19th century, all though it's very much like it. The game will be using a simple 1d6 system for the most part.

Keep in mind, this is the first RTD that I've thought up of myself.

The year is 1815. The war between the British Empire and the newly formed United States is now over with the signing of the Treaty of Ghent. Course that doesn't mean that there's nothing happening. Napoleon has just escaped his island prison of Elba and soon begins his plans for French domination and a new prophet has risen in Jerusalem.

Earth is our setting, although there are some differences here and there. Mostly just things to accommodate the less historical stuff. Just one major thing to remember: China went colonising in the 15th century and has colonies in North Australia, Western North America, South East Asia, and parts of Oceania.

These are just general rules. Don't exit the game imediately after looking at the size, just read them, they're really easy to follow.

Bold your actions. It's easy to do, taking five seconds. It's annoying for me to search through for your action when people talk a whole lot.
Strikethrough old actions, or edit them. DON'T GIVE ME TWO ACTIONS, it's annoying. Sometimes I may do the old action's result only to realize you posted another action.

Roleplaying is encouraged but not necessary.

Avoid metagaming. Lack of roleplaying may be okay, but metagaming is just bad. If you abuse too much, it will make me very upset, and thus your turns will likely turn out worse whenever possible.

For roleplaying, you may bold. But, if you bold, make sure talking has Quotation marks (" "), and roleplayish actions are Italicized.
For talking, Bold and Quotation marks.

Brutal actions are allowed, but avoid making them common nature. If they are, avoid talking about them in depth. Also, don't do any that would likely result in Toadyone or Threetoe coming in. I will not be held responsible for your actions.

Don't do vague actions. Don't do actions that could be taken more than one way without specifying what you want to do. If you do either, I have full rights to take it how I want it.

Vampire- The walking dead who live by devouring the life essence found in the blood of the living. No one, even themselves, no of their origins. They have been a constant in human civilization since the times of Ur. Vampires have organized themselves into Clans which are themselves split into Bloodlines. They are not much greater than the average human; their only true advantage is their immortality and cunning. They must consume blood lest they die. Sunlight will kill them instantly. Holy symbols will harm them.

Werewolf- Before humans were even sentient, spirits kept the world in balance. When the humans started their civilizations and reckless destruction of balance, the spirits decided that only by imbuing part of their essence into some of these humans would they be able to keep the balance. Werewolves are stronger, faster, tougher, and more direct than other creature. They can enter a state of berserk when under pressure. They have excellent hearing and smell. However, they are mere subordinates to real spirits and don't have much independence. They are less tactful and their intelligence can be considered dim at times. They have problems living in an urban setting, even if they were born into one.

Ascendent- Those who have tapped the natural flow of magics in the world. They are  normal besides their ability to cast magic. Casting too much magic however, makes the caster known to the Observer, who will kill you. Magic is extremely dangerous to use.

Vigilantes- Mortals who know about the Masquerade. These humans have somehow found out about the things that go bump in the night and know that they control much of society. They have either decided to live with it, reveal it ,fight against it, or just join them.

None-Those mortals without any idea of the Masquerade. They are normal humans in a world they believe to be natural. They're going to be proven wrong really soon. No advantages, although they don't have many disadvantages either.

Vampires:

The Society- One of the most ancient vampire clans in existence. They have stalked and controlled humans ever since the first stone of Ur was put down. They are found all over the world and  see themselves the government of all vampires, and in extension, all humanity. Course, that's not true. They are focused on keeping the Masquerade and establishing vampires as the leaders of all humanity, which they see as sheep.

Sacras- An offshoot of the Society. They split off from the Society around the 1st century over a now forgotten (or unspoken) reason. Sacras does not want to take control of the world, rather, they want to watch and learn....and dismantle the Society. They usually work through non-vampires. Ascendents may also join.

Akh Afzal- A relatively new group of vampires. They were created in the aftermath of the 3rd crusade by a former Ḥashshāshīn, who had recently become infected with the curse. They dedicate themselves to the worship of God, spending much of their time in meditation and prayer. They however, believe that by their curse they are superior to all other humans and by this they are given the right of judgement. They kill those who they believe causes harm to the brothers and those who they believe harm humanity. They are extreme and will do what they believe is right, even if they have to slaughter a whole town. They often train in the ways of stealth.

The Night Court- A department of the Chinese Empire. They were established in the year 300AD to act as the government of all supernatural creatures within China, making sure that they remain stories. They make sure vampires get their blood, werewolves do their duties, and Ascendents don't go power-crazy. They are often in conflict with the Society who try to subvert the vampiric residents of China.

None- Vampires who have been abandoned or simply never had a group to begin with.

Werewolves:

The Spirits- All werewolves are servants of the spirits. There's no choice in this.
Ascendents:

Primas Lumiant- The Lumiant was founded 1500 years ago as a platform for Ascendents to talk rather than kill each other. And also to force Ascendents to stop abusing their powers. Now they're pretty much the world police on magic, trying to make sure magic remains unseen and unused. They teach restraint.

Anarchia- Established just a year after the Lumiant, these Ascendents do not believe that they need to be restrained and that all Ascendents are free to do as they wish.

 The Night Court- A department of the Chinese Empire. Vigilantes:

The Federation for a Better World- Groups of many who have banded together to exterminate anything supernatural. They don't care if a vampire lives off the blood of chickens or destroys villages for fun, they'll kill them all either way. The Federation is little more than a few hundred groups of 5-100 who destroy anything supernatural in their local area.

Kampani- Some people see that the supernatural often have demands that are hard to supply through their usual channels. These people formed the Kampani  to supply all manners of creatures with what they need be it blood, virgins, cat piss, or whatever. The Kampani only operate in Asia however, leaving their smaller rivals to work in other areas.

M14- Some rulers are perfectly aware of the supernatural, George II did. In his reign, he was able to establish a secret organization made to protect the Empire from threats considered too strange or supernatural for more conventional groups to deal with. They've branched out to performing espionage all over the world, usually with the help of supernatural forces. Vampires, Ascendents and others can also join.

Vampires, werewolves, and Ascendents all belong to either a Clan, Spirit, and Source respectively. Only a few select groups will be listed.

Clans
The group you are part of.

Minerv- A clan finding its origins in Greece. They are martial in nature and hone their fighting skills constantly. They are a close clan and often meet with each other, even if they happen to belong to different factions.
Rexi- A clan finding its origin in Rome. The Rexi are natural leaders and speakers, but also known for their nature to betray their allies. They have no real respect for their Clan and will backstab a Clanmate with little regret.
Karajavs-A clan with a strange defect: they look like corpses, even if they've recently drunk blood. They are faster and more powerful than the average vampire.
Elaquayt- The Elaquayt are blessed with the ability to walk in the sun for a limited time and profound insight and willpower, however, they are absolutely disgusting to look at and have little physical strength.
Ornas- The Ornas are the slavers of vampire society, gathering up human cattle to feast upon.
Kholl- The Kholl are an extremely small clan of less than 500. This can be attributed to their feeding habits which often drain their victims die. They have little control over this. The Kholl rely on human agents do most of their work. They themselves have the ability to mimic sounds easily, slowly change their looks to those of their victims, and survive without blood far longer than other vampires.
Malart- Vampires with great intelligence but with great insanity. A straight expy.
Kelt-This Clan is extremely weak to any kind of light. Lights of any kind will disorient them, forcing these vampires to live in utter darkness. They have excellent night vision and can climb surfaces.

Background: Thomas Pike is an eccentric young man, often regarded by his companions to be brilliant yet somewhat incoherent. He spent his childhood attending public school, and his political ideas were strongly influenced by the current president, Thomas Jefferson. Upon his graduation, however, he refused to attend college, and instead opted to pack his gear and set out to explore the world. His friends at the time were baffled at the thought of giving up an otherwise well-set life as a clergyman in favor of becoming a self-employed adventurer.
But his dream had always been to discover, and to explore. He traveled from town to town, doing freelance jobs at times, and at other times helping the local citizenry out of good will. By 1813, he acquired enough gear and supplies that he believed he was ready to set out into the 'Great American Desert,' as it was called at the time.

He did so, and never returned until about a year later. He had traveled thousands of miles on foot and survived countless encounters with the supernatural. It was this experience that set him onto the path of a vigilante, dedicating time and possibly his life to rooting out evil and destroying it.

Appearance: Thomas is about 22 years of age. He is tall yet skinny with the usual short brown curly hair and brown eyes. He normally wears his black fedora and a pair of brass goggles in addition to a leather jacket and pants. He often carries with him numerous implements, including his telescope and a backpack full of gear.

Background: Aiden was born in London, in 1790. Four years later, his family moved to the Americas. So there, he was raised, on the east coast. He had a quiet childhood, before moving to New York. He was born into a family of Ascendants, so he has always known.
Preferred Starting Area: New York.
Appearance (optional): Aiden stands fairly tall at 6', with shoulder-length dark brown hair pulled back into a pony tail, with two bangs framing his face, complemented by crystal blue eyes. He has a small triangular goatee on his chin. He has high cheekbones, and a slightly tanned tone of skin.

I know that. I just wanted to make it clear that the US is an independent country/federation(?) at this time. I should probably change the title to "Recent Happenings at start of the game" or something like that.

Background: Khamisi has chosen to forgot his past and early days as a mortal - he was the son of an Arab slaver and his slave, true, but anything more specific than that has disappeared. His clearest memories are of the day he became one of the Blood, and when he joined the Akh Afzal. Khamisi became a devoted agent of his masters, working all across the Middle-East and Sub-Saharan Africa to fulfill their bidding.

After centuries of work in Eurasia and Africa, Khamisi has been tasked with establishing a new base of operations in the United States of America. After feeding on and taking on the looks of an Englishman, Khamisi, or 'Theodore Horne', boarded a ship bound for New York. He spent much of the journey alone in meditation, and slipped away after the nightfall once the ship had reached its destination, bypassing immigrations and the officials the mortal passengers had been forced to suffer.

Appearance (optional): His original appearance was that of a sturdy, heavily-built man of Arabic descent, but Khamisi has taken on the looks of a middle-aged Englishman. He was somewhat good-looking, with sharp, lean features, curly brown hair and an eternal half-smile playing on his lips. Khamisi has let these looks fall to waste somewhat, not caring for such trivialties.

Another cold day in the city of London, capital of the majestic British Empire. Well, they just lost North America, but who cared for details? It wasn't your job to care about these things anyway. You were  called, your spirit had appeared in your dreams last night. You were to meet with another of the pack for an important task. He should've arrived at the inn (which you are currently in) in 30 minutes. The inn is operating as usual, drunks drinking, waitresses being pinched and the barman always serving beer. As you look up at the door, you see the man you would meet with. Tall and wearing a dirty blue overcoat. He met your eyes and seated himself down next to you.

"I see your early, sorry for my lateness, but the newspapers won't print themselves! Have you heard about what happened at the baron South's manor today? There was a robbery and something about fairies. Poppycock!"

In your local code, that meant that the baron South had been assaulted by...something. No one was sure yet. Your packmate had been attacked on his way here, he thinks it had to do with baron South.

"I've heard that those atlantic salmon you like are being sold at Hem's next to warehouse 14. Should probably go there later."

Which meant that you could could probably find some answers or leads there.

Humanity always thought that they had everything under control. They were wrong. You had seen the who the true controllers were and who were the slaves. Vampires, witches, werebeasts....They were the ones who controlled everything. Humans needed to retake their turf. Which was why you were here in Boston. For a long time, you've been speaking with the Powers From Beyond. The sweet- terrible voices of peace and war-a symphony of all that was existent and not. In your rituals, you had killed at least 1/8 of the population, which in all honesty, was still quite small.

You see, Ottawa's still a little more than a lumber camp with a few people here and there. You yourself were a son of a lumberjack. Right now you were in your father's basement, calling upon the voices from beyond.

Talarion/Aiden Clayworth

Magic, it could sunder foes, plow whole fields, change the weather, bring you great joy, and slowly destroy you from withing. Magic was no toy, nothing to be fooled around with and nothing to be played with. You learnt this since the day of your birth; Ascendents taught their own in their ways.

Right now, you were in the city's sewers. As part of the New York division of the Lumiant, you were tasked with capturing and subduing all who would try to subvert magic or abuse it. There was a cabal down here somewhere, and you would find them. Or at least your teammates (who are scattered all over  the sewers) would.

Khamisi Saqqaf/Digital Hellhound

The elders had declared you fit for the task, fit for bringing order and justice to the New World. You were perfect for the task; a Kholl and loyal to the cause. This city where you would begin your task was the New York, the most populated city on the whole continent, there must be hundreds ready for conversion. Of course, you knew it wouldn't be easy, the elders said the Lumiant and the Society crawled the streets like rats, not to mention the smaller groups...

Right now you were in a warehouse with all the things you would need to begin your plans...(1) Which is next to nothing since you discovered that the ship bringing your cargo sunk.
