Dwarves and beastfolk...and a slightly disturbing thought..
« on: October 28, 2011, 02:12:14 pm »

Armok forgive me for having this thought.. and this thread.. but I needed to get it out of my mind.
As it stands in Dwarf Fortress, most species keep to themselves.

Dwaves reproduce with other dwarves.
Beastmen and beastwomen reproduce with others of thier kind.
Goblins and kobolds rut in the mud with other goblins and kobolds and produce hundreds of tiny goblins and kobolds to steal your things.
Elves... apparently sing campfire songs and are delivered by storks on a cloud of pixydust.

Will.. or would it ever be possible.. for a dwarf..  lets say a very, very drunken one.. to stumble through the woods one day while chopping wood, and suddenly meet a beautiful (?)  kobold maiden..  and not only take her as a wife,  but...   *ahem*..

Half-dwarves and other 'half' races.  (half goblin, half kobold, half elves)
I know we already have 'badgermen' and 'moosemen' and whatnot,  but they're a bit different than what i'm talking about.
Will it ever be possible?

I've heard that with the 'tavern' release in the future,  certain races won't 'necessarily' be completley evil..
..and I was just wondering about the future consequences of such a thing.

From my experiance with the RAWs, this would be very hard to input unless, for whatever reason, there is a way for creatures to reproduce like that in world gen. There would have to be existing RAWs for the half-whatevers, which could take a while.  :-\

Or it could be a template. It would be best to move this to suggestions, tho.

There could be somekind of template, and I think similar thing will happen with Werecreatures.

Half-races are planned, and will be in the game eventually. I doubt there's any specific time table for them, though.

Yah, it sounds like minecraft with content, you have obviously missed the point, people dont like content, they like different coloured blocks.
Seems to work fine with my copy. As soon as I loaded the human caravan came by and the world burst into fire.

There's a Three Toe story with a half-elf as a major character. It's very likely to go in eventually.

Elves... apparently sing campfire songs and are delivered by storks on a cloud of pixydust.

Elves would never do that - fire is dangerous for their precious plants. That's one of the reasons we always prescribe magma for dealing with an elf infestation - demoralize, then burn.

My favorite, also there is one with a half dwarf.

There's a good chance it will be possible some time in the future.

There's a good chance i'll be skinning them alive some time in the future.

There's an overwhelmingly large chance i'll be going on beastmen genocide again after this patch just because of this thread.

Quick question for you all; What will you do if you have a half-dwarf, half-filthy tree-hugging blight on darfmanityelf?

Then it happened. Then I cringed. Then I picked it up and beat him to death with it, and then his buddies, too.
You beat a man to death with his dick?

No, the animal men are warped from basic animals and just exist as a species from that point as far as I know.

Also, do you suppose vampires and were-[foo]s count as different species? That could get... confusing. Quickly.

I'm curious what the barely conscious ai wrote about.
Well that went better than expected.  He went nuts and punched a rabbit to death, then the dogs and the whole dining hall ripped him to shreds.

No, they're members of the base species, just with a syndrome applied.
