Civilization style forum game
« on: October 26, 2011, 03:13:04 am »

This is my first forum game so if you find any mistakes tell me because I have been wanting to create a forum game for a long time now and I want everything to be perfect. So it's a game like civilization only much simpler.
Spoiler: Map (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Units (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Buildings (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Terrain (click to show/hide)
I'll take 3 players now and maybe more in the future. If you want to join just tell where you want your first base to be and I'll enter you. When 3 players have joined the game begins. If you want me to add some cool new unit, building or something else PM me.
Players:
1. Strife26
2. lemon10
3. Toaster

I'll play. Starting base just north of the bridge. 5 Civies train into workers.

I'll join too. Starting base 2 south of the western forest and 2 east of the edge of the map.
5 Civies train into workers.

Sure, I'll in.  Starting base... the eastern forest has two "horns" at the top.  One east of the left "horn."

5 civ -> worker.

Normally it takes 1 turn to train a worker but because it's the beginning I'm going to skip that.

I have to sleep now but tomorrow I'll put the next turn up and think of a way to show your units in bases.

Do workers have to transport gathered materials back to the base, or does it just get collected?

All five workers to chop.  If it just teleports, then three to the southernmost tree and the other two to the one above it.  Otherwise, two trees three tiles away.

Train the next five into workers as well.

Train 5 more workers.
Have my workers go down two spaces from my base, and build a mine.

Keff, a coordinate system would be very nice, and would simplify orders quite a bit (not so important now, but very much so when we have tons of units running around).

I'll redo the map for next turn and mark all the units on the map. I still need to somehow draw the workers and as you can see from the map I'm not good at it.

It just gets collected

Good to know.

Maybe you just need some icons with numbers next to them to represent forces in the tile?

Coordinates would help too.

I made a chess board style coordinate system (check the first post) and I'm thinking of using colored numbers and some poorly drawn pictures to show units.

I might be submitting some unit ideas later.

Thanks I'll add your ideas in when Strife has posted his next turn. Also this really needs a better name because if this turns out to be popular I want to make a much bigger game with more players (and if not I'll just let this die after the first game is over).

Looks like Strife is missing his turn and I still haven't added those new units and buildings Toaster suggested. :(
