You know, that's a good question, and I'm not entirely sure. Let's look at Yuri's stats, at level 1 and level 2:

Most of his stats increased by one, except for Leadership which increased by two. Leadership is, of course, the captain's primary skill.
Now, Yuri is the protagonist, and thus his skills may level differently than the others. I'll have to see how someone else increases for comparison.

Also, it's a really good game, if rather complex. I heartily recommend it.

I have to say, this is an enjoyable read so far.

Letting Torlo handle gunnery and making Kira stay in the kitchen sounds good, btw.

I know you can get bonus "stat exp" from events as well as straight stat increases.
How I think it works is each time the character levels up they gain stat expierence for their different stats and the amount they gain for each is affected by where they are assigned, and what training modules are in the active fleet.
I'm pretty sure having a character assigned to a post is good way of increase that stat.

I say give Kira lead op and Torlo gun crew.
All managment does when put in chef is decrease the rate fatigue increases and fatigue just decreases the rate the command gauge goes up.
We don't need managment just yet as most of our trips will be fairly short with few empty sectors between where we're going.
It's more useful to put her in lead op as that gives a direct command gauge speed increase.
Besides it's easy to get a ships livablity up a bit more with moddules once we get a few of the nicer ones.
Firepower and accuracy are more important in my view.

Kira is also our best medic, and the medbay is KINDA like a kitchen (inasmuch as meat is cut there,) so I say she takes over whatever position corresponds to "Make Booboos go byebye"

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

My advice is to put her as a medic. We won't receive any good doctors for quite a while, IIRC, but we WILL be getting a good cook very soon. In fact, our roster will double in the next few updates.

Then again, this is a LET'S Play. If the majority want Kira performing !!SCIENCE!!, than who am I to stop you? :P

Welcome back! Last time, we left the newbie area behind and entered the Lutsk sector! Lots of stuff to do here, so let's get started...

Okay, I'm gonna call it quits for now. It's time to make a choice regarding the second ship. Do we:

  • Leave the DAISY in the second slot
  • Purchase another Otlichny/Perekop for the second slot
  • Save money to purchase a newer, better ship to go with the LOTUS
  • Sell the LOTUS, use money to buy newer, better ship to go with the DAISY

Keep in mind that I don't have access to newer, better ships...yet. I will be getting the blueprints early next update however, so vote now! I will leave voting open until the update after next.

Aww Hanzoku that's what I was gonna say. Agreed with waiting and replacing the Daisy with a sturdier new flagship. Also, now that we have some livability compartments, maybe move Kira to doctoring? Nice update, by the way, I've been checking for them a couple times a day. :P

Now that we're out of the tutorial/newbie area, the game starts to pick up the pace. Still plenty of story, but also more explosions so it's all good.

Hmm... names. Amaranth is kind of neat. Or Lilac/Orchid. We'll probably have a Rose eventually. Or maybe Pansy for the wtf factor. :P This is assuming we're staying with the flower theme.
