I love how the game emphasises what is probably ordinary objects in that universe.

I always figured that they were literal lightsaber analogs, old weapons not seen all that often anymore.

My vote is for death, Argun seems to be the type of scum where living is too good for him.

Not as far as I know, sorry. There is some genuinely weird stuff, but that doesn't really come in until later.

@ Jarod: That's kinda what I figured as well. It doesn't seem like many people have plasmic blades, and when Yuri pulls his out people generally get scared. Maser blasters seem to be the weapon of choice.

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.
