I always thought the double exclamation points meant something's on fire.

It does. Dwarven science for example is !!SCIENCE!! because it's often on fire when done right.

Corrected.

The source for weapons in the Elf section is wrong...

Elves don't cut down trees to make weapons, the trees grow swords like fruit, essentially.

But I like your (overly clichéd) ironic joke.

Justice:

1. Being unlucky enough to be blamed for not doing something impossible someone asked no one in particular to do, then staying in a hotel without having to do any work for a couple of months.
2. Being unlucky enough to be blamed for not doing something impossible someone asked no one in particular to do, then being starved in a small alcove for a couple of months.
3. Being unlucky enough to be blamed for not doing something impossible someone asked no one in particular to do, then being beaten to death by a dwarf with a hammer.

Loyalty cascade - When one dwarf kills another of the same civilization, becoming an enemy of said civilization (yet remaining a citizen) so that other citizens feel it is their duty to slay the traitor, thus becoming enemy-citizens themselves until only one dwarf of his own new blood-forged faction rises from the dust.

Noble - a dwarf in a position of power that sometimes makes impossible demands and mandates. When this happens, schedule an unfortunate accident.

I think the noble entry I wrote isn't very good. Someone should write one, and also one for unfortunate accident.

You do not understand the ways of Toady One. He is not a business, he's just a guy trying to make a fun game. He's invited people to come along and experience the journey with him (and help him test it out as he goes along). At the end of the day, I don't think his main goal is to sell Dwarf Fortress, its just to create the best game possible.

Stupid Dwarf Trick
Noun
1. An elaborate scheme created by dwarvenkind for unknown reasons. 2. Why? Some dwarves aren't looking for anything logical, like a fresh water system. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some dwarves just want to see the !!world!! burn.
