Well no skirmish sucks, i mean, i only played Crusader because of the skirmish, otherwise i much preferred the prevailing greens of the original, the brown and grey deserts were really dull looking.

...good, so everyone agrees we must burn down that heresy.
(look at my Horrible blog for what i wrote about it, it's even adsense free!)
(yeah, it's a horrible blog, no need to point it out)

“Well,” he said. “We’re in the Forgotten hunting grounds I take it. Your screams just woke them up early. Congratulations, Lyara.”
“Do something!” she whispered, trying to keep her sight on all of them at once.
Basileus clapped his hands once. The Forgotten took a step forward, attracted by the sound.
“There, I did something. I clapped. I like clapping,” he said. -The Investigator And The Case Of The Missing Brain.

The free housing giving bonus points to happiness, I do like. It's sort of a safety net while your peasants are leaving. It doesn't help much, but I understand it. But that combat... Agh. First economic mission, try to fight that bear using peasants. Go on, try.

Since I'm not used to controlling my Lord, I didn't realize I could actually have him fight the bear. Noticed that there wasn't a visible way to heal him, though, so I really really don't want to rely on him for combat.

He heals over time i believe. If not then you need an apothocary.

Cute review of it. He's quite frustrated, but that's his shtick.

I'll double check later, when I have time. I'm the type of person who keeps all his nobles, kings and otherwise important people as far away from battle as possible, so I'm loathe to rely on them for anything. Total War has taught me that, no matter how unlikely, your charging general CAN get picked off his horse by peasants occasionally.

I know what you mean :P

But he has a healthbar and can walk through his own guys, chances of him dieing are low. The only reason your general died was because there was no way to tell how many hit points he had left and the horrible pathing.

I just checked and you definitely can't stack units in stronghold 1.

Nonsense, I have done so in crusaders. Try setting them as different groups, then having those groups move to the same spot. They should overlap. Another way is to get a massive amount of guys to try and all move around a corner, they will squish together.

I played it, I was a huge fan of Stronghold: Crusaders. Sadly, 3 is boring as hell. :(

So...

Apparently wolves can climb the ladders to my guard towers and eat my archers.  I was unaware that wolves possessed the ability to climb ladders.   ???

Crap. We're all screwed. Construct a wooden wall behind the ladder, so that the wolves can't path to it. Sure, you're archers can't leave the tower, but that's 100 times better than being mauled by superwolves, right?
