A question: If I want to discuss the sequel, which in turn would contain spoilers of the current fic, would I do it here or take it somewhere safe from prying eyes?

Keep it to PMs until we get it published. If someone can go bother Impending again...

Impending is still Impending, but considering his full handle is Impending Doom I would rather have him keep being impending, rather than, for instance, "imminent", or "certain". :)

I've given him a deadline of midnight. If he fails his task, I'll think of something gruesome.

He is a he, right? Just making sure so I make sure the descriptions are accurate.

I would assume a male gender unless otherwise proven wrong :p I try to avoid gender-specific words as often as possible to avoid that kind of scenario (Impending's fiction vs. his fiction, for example)

It's almost Halloween. Is it done yet?

Impending got one part of his posted, but it's still not a complete section for even the first half. We will either be posting it as a work in progress at this rate (not far from original intent), or skipping his section entirely. I've no idea, actually, I'm no longer even sure it's all going to work out at this point.

But since I'm currently focused on ponies either way, and whatever becomes of this it's still partially my project (even if my influence was basically "do try not to kill everyone" and "let's make a sequel", plus the name). As such, I'd still like to do the title image for it.

Since it contains no spoilers, I'll be posting and discussing it (or, well, just talking to myself if nobody else shows up) in here.

First interesting observation:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Character on the left - Urist Vaultbridges. I don't think I ever got a proper description of him/her, so the design went "straight from the mind". Time taken - about 15 minutes.
Character on the right - well, guess. Time taken to draw to this point - about one and a half bloody hours. Well, a lot of that was just trying to get the wings right (wings are the new hands), but that's still considerably more time taken. And I had references and everything. And she still doesn't look exactly right. I must've spent half an hour just trying to get the face/hairdo to stop channeling Twilight Sparkle at me. So, observation - established characters are much harder to convincingly draw without resorting to established conventions (i.e. colors). And for this scene, I'll need all six of them. I'd do a *headdesk*, but no desk is handy, and my laptop wouldn't survive it.

Well, at least it's fun.

Is that a saddle on Urist's back?

No, does it look like a saddle? Perhaps it's a mite too sketchy, but that's supposed to be a folded wing.

Like I said, wings are the new hands. It'll take me some time to get them looking right.

Well, it looks like a wing, but I thought Urist wasn't a flyer (kinda forgot about it). Anyway, do you have an idea of what the other characters look like? (not including mane 6, of course)

Well, I've got the descriptions for Slag, Dansen, Frieden (what the hell kind of color is periwinkle?), and Debesh. Starkey is a dark horse at the moment, metaphorically speaking, and I don't even have much of a partial description because Impending's parts are still not done.

edit: four more OCs, in less than two hours by the timestamp, so under an hour total work. I seem to have thrown every hint at a proper scene perspective out the window at this point, but every character is in a separate layer so I'll be able to work it out once all designs are done.

A lot of sloppy sketching (with the mouse - fingers tired), trying to determine perspective and failing, and generally fooling around later:

It's looking really good.

As for our fic, it would seem that any reasonable 'timeline' has been passed. We might be lucky if the story gets up by Halloween nightfall. I guess we're bumping it back a day or a few?
