PARASITES D:
« on: October 23, 2011, 06:12:55 pm »

Imagine this, Vermin infest your food stocks. Unwitting dwarf eats said food stock, becomes sick, and dies. Becomes zombie, or worse, hundreds of vermin sprout from Urist McVictim's body. Or worse, a bite from say, an antman (Kudos to wannazzaki), or some wierd ass cavern beasty causing babies to sprout from the victim or WORSE, transform the victim into that same creature... Kinda like a were beast but more gruesome.
There could even be forgotten vermin of a sorts....
THE LIST OF POSSIBILITIES IS ENDLESS (And disgusting)
It would mean you would have to quarantine the crap out of infected dwarfs, have to make better food stockpiles than simply laying them around cave floors and actually having to use... Armok forbid.... Cats.
Or just make cavern critters more !!FUN!!.

I am a god of awesome ideas, i know.

But yes. Hybrids of parasitic insectoid humanoids and whatever they can catch or whatever you can feed them. Dragons anyone? Reminds me of the Braineater Dragon, which is an illithid tadpole stuck in a dragon. It looks like this.

That reminds me. Would it affect say, a bronze collossus?

I'd say anything that cannot undead should be safe, or anything particularly thick skinned (or armored)

I don't see what skin has got to do with orifice based infestation.

I really REALLY dislike it when "fluff" wins people over.

Anyhow what is the difference between a parasite and the disease system?

On one end of the spectrum, we could just have vermin induced diseases that need a specialist doctor to cure, and on the other we have fungi, worms and swarms of nasties infecting everything that moves, making them spew parasitic vermin, to the down right apocalyptic bloated puppy scenario/infested collosus, of these things literally bursting from stuff.
Yuk.

You know what a parasite is right?

Chestbursters are only one kind.

You know what animal COULD have those? Giant Wasps.
