Musicians? Do we have any?
« on: October 23, 2011, 01:12:27 am »

I didn't see any musician thread, so I'm making one. Budding musician? professional looking for critique?

Or are you just a massive attentin grabber like myself.

I'm a singer, and composer going through music college myself. Any of you play music?

I've been playing guitar for about half a year now, and I'm finally getting good enough to play songs without making people around me kill themselves.  I used to play keys, but I'm about three years out of practice, not that I was ever good at that.  I've been told my voice is "angelic", when I don't sound like a wounded hog.  I want to learn to play bass.
But enough of what I'm mediocre at.  My true medium is the mix.  My instrument is the recording console.  I'm a sound tech, and I'm good at it.

I used to play a few instruments, but nowadays I compose electronic music more than anything. I made music for a rap album last year, and I'm in the middle of making a MIDI soundtrack for a small game project.

Why not post us some links then? I'm interested to see what bay12 has to offer musically.

I'm in a band. We're called Grand Dynasty. We play acoustic folk rock. That link holds the untold treasures of two publicly-released-for-free songs, one of which is an okay demo version (Fern) and one of which is an almost-finished-except-for-recording-real-drums version (Weeds). Go listen to them.

But when I'm not playing in a band, I very slowly compose solo folk guitar music. None of that is yet recorded to a satisfactory level.

I play the Baritone Horn (treble clef), but sometimes I like to compose.

Here's a rendition of Still Alive for a trio of baritones.
Nyan Cat for Baritone!
A piccolo duet I made for a friend's game.

Not too skilled on the keyboard, but I play it. I also compose electronic music on FL Studio.

I love FL studio! I use FLS9 for composing at home sometimes.

I am beginner guitarist. Yesterday I tried to make my own backing track with Audacity. it was more of a tech test but it turned up okay so i decided to upload it.

I'm a half decent guitarist and a pretty awful keyboardist. I've never recorded anything though. I figure the world has enough bad melodeath songs about goblins and zombies.

Since some of you probably compose music via FL Studio, what are some nice VSTI's you've used?

Quite cool. "Still Alive" works surprisingly well like that, it seems.

I used to play the euphonium back in high school days. I recently dug the thing out and gave it a go. The resulting sound was not pretty. If you enjoy playing an instrument, keep at it, is I guess the lesson there.

Aside from that, I can belt out a song or two. I took some voice classes in college, and was told that I had a "very impressive range, but terrible technique", which may have been the teacher's way of letting me down easy.
