It is possible if the possessing dwarf is dead, ghostly and causing a tantrum. Moods are caused by rock spirits disturbed by digging

I have a question. In an earlier post, it mentioned something about a dwarf being posessed by another dwarf. Is this possible without some DFhack?
No, it's heresy

No, it's MEH AWESUMNEHSS

8th of Opal
The guardian of the lake... has fallen... The lake shall be his tomb... It's a shame such a noble
beast was struck down... All he wanted was the lake...

11th of Opal
I am ordering a private chambers to be dug out for me... Well I AM the current overseer, so what I
say, goes...

24th of Opal
Progress on my room and the dining room are going well, only a matter of time now...
Oh and I've also ordered some additional water wheels to be attached to The Array...

26th of Opal
A merchant and his camel went insane today, they apparantly fell down the well, and didn't realize
that Stos is dead... Poor Stos...

11th of Obsidian
A yak cow starved to death... No further comments on this...
My quarters are nearly complete, I plan for it to be the "Control Center" for the fort eventually...
And the dining room is nearly done!

19th of Obsidian
A roaming camel decided to check out the fort, only to be stabbed in the head with a sword...
Well at least there isnt camel everywhere...

24th of Obsidian
Nish, one of our gem cutters, had a baby girl today...

12th of Granite
The river is going to thaw soon, and The Array will be fully operational soon...
I was about to order some pumps to be constructed but... we don't have any pipe sections or corkscrews...
I was going to make the pipe sections out of nickel for future magma use but... We only have iron...
Well we're going to get that iron back!
_____________________________________________________________________________

Well not the biggest update, and i didn't take pics this time...
Oh and fun fact: Stos took a -slate mechanism- from the camel he killed, and killed the speardwarf
with it...
I did make a personal chamber for my dwarf, it's sealable from the rest of the fort, my intentions
are for it to have levers to everything, and well my dwarf will be impervious to a tantrum spiral
there due to lack of friends (and to everything else due to magma proof bridge lock) :D
Oh and it does have a pretty large food+booze stock...

13th of Granite
The river unfroze today, and nearly imediately the pumps came to life!

16th of Granite
The pumps are operational... but the wheels are still not moving... Hopefully it just needs more time

23rd of Granite
The wheels have sprung to life! Now let's just see if it's stable...
Oh and a lye maker thought it would be a wise idea to move across the channel full of highly pressurized
water... He will not be missed... By me at least...
HAHA HE TRIED TO GET OUT BUT GOT KNOCKED BACK INTO THE PIPES! Stupid lye maker...

25th of Granite
In an unusual twist of fate, the Mayor got stuck in one of the pipes of The Array... Idiotic dwarves...

26th of Granite
I figured The Array wasn't entirely stable yet... The wheels stopped today, maybe theres too much water...

28th of Granite
Our pump restart device failed today... unexpected situation I have here... Although The Array's power
production is booming at the moment, I am shutting down emergency power.
I am also building more wheels, hoping they will increase power output enough to force it to remain
stable...

6th of Slate
A gremlin showed up today, sneaky little bastards... It was then torn to shreds by our alligator

10th of Slate
The Array... It just won't... perform... as well as I want it... I am being called a phony... If I
have to endure this for much longer, I'm leaving again... Possibly never to return...
But now I plan a simpler waterwheel array. It won't be as complicated, or have as much potential,
design flaws excluded, as The Array, but it will still give us power...
The flooded mines seem to be a great place to start it...

May Armok make this one successful, if only to melt the skin off of goblins with magma...
But, The Array will have one task: To drain out the flooded mine to retrieve the limonite and to set
up The Array Mk2 (Name subject to change at any given time)

12th of Slate
A giant mole snuck in somehow...

16th of Slate
The Array is performing its first, and possibly last, duty... It's heartbreaking, really...

I probably should have thought this one out more...
________________________________________________

It really isn't easy for me to replace The Array like this...
It just isn't reliable, and too lag intensive for its gain, it shall remain active until I manage to get the mine situation under control... although
I really should've made the water disposal... NOT pointing towards our main stairwell!!! well... it does have magma at the bottom...
Oh and you can't atom smash saplings...

a 2nd spear dwarf from the caravan got him...
apparantly the trader that went insane was a human... crazy humans...
Iton is still mayor, im fairly sure he was mayor at the start of my turn...
The Array is pitiful... It can barely power 4 pumps let alone itself... i failed there...  :'(

Too space inefficient, gonna make a simpler waterwheel thing, just a note: the river is prolly gonna move... maybe... IF IT WOULD PUMP THIS OUT FASTER!!!

27th of Slate
Migrants have arrived
a mason
a miller
a herbalist who is also an adept bone carver
a fisher under the disguise of a herbalist
a competant marksdwarf... and there is one opening left for The Named Artifacts...
an adept armorsmith, shame we already have a high master
a milker
a... high master wood burner?
a potash maker...
an animal disector
a potter
a cheese maker... possible industry here?
another potter
a brewer
a... high master lye maker? do we have a soap industry set up?
an omni skilled engineer who also knows some spear skill...
a hunter who has no clue how to use a crossbow... or any weapon, brought a bronze crossbow and 34
   bronze bolts though
a thresher...

14th of Felsite
Elves have come, well wood is always nice here

26th of Felsite
Elves had no wood and no animals... Sigh... I think I might just leave soon, although an expedition
to there might just...
Shouldn't worry about that now, not enough time left... not before I depart once again.

3rd of Hematite
Great... Ushat, a gem setter, was possessed by otherworldly forces...
Well, let's see what we get...

11th of Hematite
We have sealed the breach in the mines, time to set up a... better waterwheel array...

18th of Hematite
Today... I shut The Array off...

21st of Hematite
The Array gives off a deafening roar of defiance as it is shut off...

23rd of Hematite
The Array fell silent... And now I regret shutting it off...

2nd of Malachite
I can't take being around the silent corpse of The Array any more... I am leaving right away...
The orders for our new power source have been put into place. May the next overseer construct it and
use it well...
____________________________________________________________________________

Some notes:
New waterway has expected max power of 7200
Hook bridge to a lever (its in the pipe)
Tear down The Array if you wish, my request is to leave its skeleton intact...
Build waterwheels out of tower cap (I like Tower Cap  :D)
The bedroom right next to The Array is the control room, put all the important levers (or ones that do the same thing) there, put a dwarf there (I made a burrow specifically for this), and raise the bridge. The dwarf you put in there will be impervious to any threat that plagues the fort provided he has no friends and he doesn't run out of food.

umm here is the save, enjoy

Downloaded the save--I like your room design developing--very compact and I feel I (and M.C. Escher) have much to learn about ramps from your set-up.

Who has the turn now? The front page has lots of blanks and me on the 16th, I've got tons of work till then so its for the best, but who shall keep the fort going in the meantime?

Ajr--why don't you take a turn: the founder of the thread should have his day,
Or GreatWyrmGold should return as the original earth breaker now that the fort is stable.

thanks goatgod, umm i forgot to mention: all the limonite in the trench is being dumped to a garbage zone near the magma forges...
at least i think it is...
And make sure the trench has raising drawbridges to separate it from the river (don't know if the goblin civ has Cave Crocs/Giant Toads, don't intend on finding out the hard way...)
also a drawbridge under the eastern wall will be needed to maintain defense vs those

Last thing: put a roof over the trench, or else it WILL freeze...
Wait i didn't use ramps? (i designed the dining room, The Array, the trench (unnamed), and the control room... as well as all the walls keeping the cavern out...)

The dining room is 3 Z-levels high btw :D

Actually roofing off a structure will have absolutely no effect on it freezing--once a square is exposed to the light of day, it is forever outside and will definitely freeze.  I learned that the hard way with a glass tower in a tundra once.  It was supposed to dispense icy death.  It dispensed free icy pumps.

I don't have much time as Skyrim is being published today midnight. I'm already downloading it and I should read to exams today and do chores. Maybe you could take a turn as you've already downloaded the save? I could be in turn on sunday and do chores
