C'mon join, its practically stable and hotkeyed for all the important zones--there is a trap keeping it totally safe in the south and totally unsafe in the north--what could go wrong?

Bah, the only thing stopping me from taking a turn is time, I can't run 4 forts at the same time XP

When did he die? Why not narrate as the ghost? Why not narrate as the resident F.B? I want more Inn of Drowning! By the way, rereading the thread I realized you are the one to introduce the M.C. Esheresque slopage and unique design to the main hub of the fort.

Your dwarf is dead too. Shouldn't have joined the military. i'm not sure if we have enough soap though.

We have began to construct the Lake City. Most of us have stayed busy ever since. It is a city that will be layed on an artificial lake that will drain to the same hole as the dining hall waterfall. The other flood intake can only be blocked during winter, but the other one, which draws water from the well can be closed using a lever in a main corridor facing the well block.

Forgotten Beasts have come and have died to our axes while the great great construction has been going on. Nevertheless, we have constructed homes for the brewer's guild next to the food storage. We've also build a sewer district and a swastikadom, which involves swastika shaped houses that include four worker chambers each. The glass we had ran out though.

Upon finishing the city, a dragon has appeared. It is thin by build and a sizeable beast. One of our recruits got killed by it, he went too eagerly to his doom ahead of the veterans. Our veterans did kill the dragon at the gates where goblins lie in their death. The dragon was actually dropped from the trap systems down on the ground.

Someone should finish the watertrap in the north of the fortress. I barred it with stone during the goblin sieges last year as I couldn't finish the trap controls.

Tip: When you start playing, immedeately cancel the sewer district beds, because dwarves have AI problems navigating past the waterfall safely.

Hehe, there is something sigworthy about the incongruity there :)

Who is taking the save?

I can spend all week on an aggressive ad campaign over in the dwarf mode forum. I figure I post in the events, artifacts, badass battles etc thread somebody will intrigued by the Inn of Drowning, and sign up--hell it was my first succession ever.

Ajr: awesome architectural improvements, but it really is the Inn of Drowning now--I loaded up your save to play around with it and three dwarves drowned within seconds of unpausing. I looked around legend mode to see the big changes. Asen the Spike of Veiling, our resident war hero died, a heroic charge ending suddenly with a bolt to the head.  I died gibbering of infection, after an unlucky spat with a forgotten beast.

I also realized how big this world is and how many actual forgotten beasts live here. We haven't even seen 10% of the cavern horror, maybe not even 5%, I saw a rose gold serpent with deadly dust.  If I see that thing in the Inn of Drowning, I am caving in 30% of it to save the rest.

yeah, a great defence architecture would do miracles in times of distress. We could sequence a flood system that would isolate these legend beasts from our more critical chambers

I have a very functional design but it depends on an isolated rather than inhabited cavern.  Perhaps I could work on it in the hell castle cavern, as cavern 3 it seems to get the most beasties anyway.

it's basically a hallway with little rooms full or crap armorstands.  Each room has an empty 3x3 inaccessible chamber on the z-level immediately above it.
All the rooms also share a hollow space in the z-level above.  This hollow space keeps safe the dwarves maintaining a simple channel+Support cave=in trap.  One for each little room. Even if the cave in doesn't hit the F.B. directly it creates powerful suction in the 3x3 chamber below, usually enough to suck the thing into the inaccessible room.

Now for the sake of the Inn of Drowning it only makes sense that the hollow space separating the engineer crew and the f.b. (the z-level above) should be flooded.
