A question I intended for the collaborative writing thread, but which I suppose fits here as well and is more likely to be answered quickly.
Zecora the zebra. Does she
only talk in verse? Because I'm currently trying to put a certain fictional legend into verse (for TGF's sequel project), am not really sure it's working out so well, and am really wondering if it's all that necessary.
O hark, and hear me tell the tale
Of pony young named Glitterdale,
Whose doleful plight and sad demise
Is still remembered by the wise.
In Everfree, in darkest dells,
Alone and sad her spirit dwells,
Forgotten long by pony folk,
Until this day, when she awoke.

Not always has she been alone,
In olden days, her beauty shone,
And in her horn, a magic light
Would fill onlookers with delight.
In her calm gaze and soothing voice
Both beast and tree seemed to rejoice,
And kindness filled the pony's heart,
Until, one day, all came apart.
In yonder forests friends would play,
And Glitterdale would join the fray,
But one misstep, one turn of luck,
And with one spark, the blow was struck.

A magic trick she yearned to show,
But woe, she slipped! And, horn aglow,
She fell, and as a wayward breeze
A magic light swung through the trees.
She lay in snow, her hoofs aflare,
Her laughter ringing in the air,
But she could not have known or seen
How deadly her horn's light had been.
From that day on, no soul could brave
The path that led up to the grave,
Amidst the trees, away from sight,
Where Glitterdale shed her light.

Alone she wandered in the dark,
Picking no fruit, no grass or bark,
And thus, in mournful, rueful plight,
She passed into eternal night.
