Which is exactly what I said and in my opinion makes the most sense since Derpy doesn't look any older than Sparkler, so it's very unlikely that she's Sparkler's mother.

Do we really need the spoiler tags? Has anyone not seen the episode?

I consider it a courtesy to any who may not yet have viewed the latest episode. I know my life is sometimes extremely busy and I find little chance to devote a full half hour to watching Youtube. A quick check on the forums to read one of my favorite threads however is within my time limits. I know I've had some episodes spoiled for me, and I figure the effort on my part to add tags to my post and click open others messages is worth the off chance I prevent reducing someone's enjoyment of a new episode.

As for replying to the rest of your post, others seem to have done that for me, but I wouldn't want it to appear I'm ignoring your points, and they are quite valid. However I'm not going to build a quote pyramid with them (I despise those) so find my response after the break.

To your first point: I found Rarity likable to a degree. Not her best performance (Art of the Dress FTW) but certainly within the top five episodes to feature her. I'd rank her performances in order of preference each episode as follows:

1: Suited for Success
2: Green Isn't Your Color
3: The Return of Harmony (although I think Tom outperformed her)
4: Sisterhooves Social
5: A Dog and Pony Show

My personal preference for Rarity's character is less O'Hara, more a woman who is openly and proudly feminine, but with a heart of diamond who has a deep understanding of herself and the important realities of life. She's always struck me as the most mature of the group, full of worldly experience and comfortable in knowing who she is and what she wants. Alongside Applejack I'd rate her as the most self reliant pony, perhaps even moreso as Applejack is known to overextend herself whereas Rarity seems to never completely lose full control over the outcome of any situation, even if the solution requires her to break her own self-imposed standards. I feel that character featured at the end of Sisterhooves Social. 

To your second point, I feel it's been adequately answered above. My own fanon will remain intact, despite the 'big sister' for Dinky in this episode. I don't need to justify it any more, I'll simply enjoy the fantasy for what it is.

Third, and we agree, no further need be said.

And finally, just because the moral of the story may cause blunt force trauma in certain viewers doesn't make it any less relevant or appropriate. I can certainly think of many series with a decidedly older target demographic that use similarly heavy-handed styles. For example, Star Trek is guilty to a fault of this practice, yet still attracts a huge cult following. I felt engaged with the episode, and I feel that the character of Rarity has grown because of it. Her relationship with her sister was given new depth and meaning, and I will value the episode because of that.

Yeah, establishing shots. I can draw Urist flying next to/after Rainbow, Debesh having an, uh... one-bottle party at Fluttershy's, Starkey talking to Applejack at the farm, Frieden being forcefully pushed into a shower by Rarity, Dansen looking for gems with Spike, and Slag... well, just walking with Twilight and Pinkie, I guess. Or looking around at Sugarcube Corner. Hm, interior design. Scenery was bad enough... I'm thinking to keep focus on the OCs for these, leaving the main cast in the background where possible. That should be fun.

And unless something holds you up, don't expect these to be complete in time for Phase 3. My maximum rate seems to be one image per day.
