Like Kaijyuu, I really like Luna's characterization. A little irresponsible of Celestia to not clue her in that the "Royal Canterlot Voice" and other such things is no longer used, though. Trollestia strikes again, I guess.

I also wonder if the reference to Pipsqueak as "Little Pip" by Zecora is an acknowledgement of Fallout: Equestria or if it's just a coincidence. One hell of a coincidence if it is.

Just finished watching Luna Eclipsed a few minutes ago. What a relief it wasn't like the previous episode.

It's a wonder no one in Canterlot is deaf if they always have to speak to each other in that voice.

Absolutely loved it! I honestly think this was the best way to deal with returned Luna if they weren't just going to play it for constant laughs like some fanfictions (Which is good in its own right, but not really for canon). I actually think that including the "Ye Olde English" and some of her mannerisms was a good idea; it gets across the point to the entire audience that she has really been gone for an entire millenium, the equivalent of having Edmund II transposed into the modern U.K. Sure, they could have just made a bunch of jokes about her not knowing how modern things work, or made her into the little ball of fun that we were all secretly hoping for, but this is IMO the route which is most faithful to the spirit of the show, on multiple levels. And she turns into Fun!Luna at the end, so we get to have our character development, our friendship building, and our adorable Luna. The only thing that would have made it better would have been for her to be introduced to socks at the end.

The best worst funniest part about that would be that it would be Scootaloo that would be happiest about it; I can easily see Rainbow Dash doing something like that just to get a few ponies to stop arguing about who gets to be her student or something similar. She is prideful, but doesn't have the sort of arrogance to come up with that out of the blue, so there is almost certainly some sort of conflict like that occuring, and she settles it in the best way she can.

And yes, having RD call Scootaloo her "pet" in canon would be bait for so many horrible(?) things...

Far too much of a coincidence, definitely a nod to Fallout: Equestria. I squeed when I heard her say it anyway.

So.... were the adults in on the fact she was Good Luna all along? Huh. Fluttershy seemed genuinely terrified, and Applejack too to some extent, which was annoying seeing as they should know she was changed back. You know, since they're the ones who did it in the first place.

Still, enjoyable episode, although I couldn't help but wince at a couple moments.

Am really the only one who thought of Great Expectations when they said pip?

I mean fallout Equestria's nice and all but I'm pretty sure the british accent pony is. you know. Referencing Pip from Great Expectations.

Especially because the crew doesn't read Fan-fics.

Just watched the new episode, twice. I got to agree with Crazy Cow, it's my favorite episode too.

Best part of the episode as far as I am concerned was Luna's entrance. It was so well done. I've tried to find a good scene for a screenshot, but the whole thing fits to well together.


I think nopony was quite sure how to react to her initially. Even Twilight hesitated when Luna said "IT WAS THOU WHO UNLEASHED THE POWER OF HARMONY UPON US AND TOOK AWAY OUR DARK POWERS." Their first reaction was rather easy to understand: princess dropping in the village unannounced, during the nightmare night, flying on a dark chariot, bringing clouds and lightning along (remember clouds are usually brought by pegasus) and this right after a group of children lead by Pinkie Pie (you know, the one who is always jumping and laughing?) passed yelling. Luna did not help our case seconds after her arrival. Even the mane 6 had reasons to feel unsure: they probably saw Luna as much as we did... never since the time they used the elements. Pinkie was just playing along, RD apparently didn't care, Fluttershy... is Fluttershy and Applejack only needed to be told Luna was looking for help to forget any fear. Pretty much in character IMO.

Anyway, I really like how they managed to reintroduce Luna. They managed to put in pretty much everything I was expecting/hoping and then add some more. All in a neat package.
