Pixels! is re-launching

For those who don't know this game is the sequel to Pixels: The Game! which was originally inspired by Pixel Survival, it's had its fair share of successes though failed when I tried to bring Pixels! further and created the website for numerous reasons but it all eventually came down to the fact that I had rushed it.

Anyways after that I suspect it appeared to everybody that I'd abandoned the project when in actual fact I've been working on content to re-launch Pixels! to make it so much better than it was before, so here's a quick list of the changes to Pixels! and why this time it will work:

Changes to Pixels!

• More focus placed on engaging story lines
• An improved website with more and richer content
• Release date announced at least a week in advance

Why Pixels! will work this time

• A 5 minute Pixels! animation is in the works for promotion purposes
• Enough advertising credit to send 4,000 visitors to the website
• Reward scheme to pay GM's, moderators and other contributors
• And with any luck the full support of a great community!

All Pixels! development prior to launch will occur on Bay12.

Alright, Pixels is re-launching, that date is still some time off whilst I work on the animation, website, lore and goodness knows what else but I'm now at a point where I feel I'm ready to announce that Pixels! is in no way dead. This is the point where I want to start answering questions, taking suggestions and getting some more support behind this re-launch, so far Pyro and Ehndras have been a great help but as I said it's time to open this up to everybody.

Help wise voice actors are near the top of the list but I'm sure you can think of many more ways to help, a lot of the work required is in various states of completion so for now I'll just leave you with the semi-finalized character list and leave everything else open to questioning

Dragnov

Description
The main character Dragnov is a member of a peacekeeping spy network known as The Russian Federation, he has successfully infiltrated The Grey Order who have in turn planted him on Hope where he succeeded Bernard as leader for the purpose of proving the viability of robotic weaponry

Back-story
Growing up on a farm Dragnov’s world changed when he was twelve, his parents sat him down, told him he was adopted and gave him a letter which his mother had told them to give to her son before she fled. The letter detailed how she had been a member of The Russian Federation and how there had been a man who visited her every few months for a couple of years, how he had given her a child and finally how she had been given a contract to kill him, arranged for him never to be seen by her or someone else that might mean him harm to him and then ran away herself after finding a home for her 8 month old son.

Through his teenage years Dragnov trained skills on the farm that would allow him to become a spy alongside his other duties, and five years later he contacted The Russian Federation and was enlisted as a spy, after his work in disintegrating the Afro-Turkish war as it culminated into open conflict he earned the federation’s full trust and was inserted inside The Grey Order


Abe & Ja

Description
Abe and Ja are brothers who immigrated from North Africa to Italy with a stolen shuttle habitat that they named Hope. Abe is a friendly giant, good hearted and provides comic relief to the other members of Hope possibly to avoid his turbulent history, Ja however is even less grounded, the eccentric mechanic of Hope Ja is almost always seen wearing his red hat upon which a single white feather rests and constantly tinkering with strange devices.

Back-story
Both born into slavery Abe and Ja opted to run away from home at a young age, life did not improve for them however, Abe became a prize fighter whilst Ja worked anywhere that’d take him and stripping apart old tech into usable components.

When the Second Afro-Turkish War started they were press-ganged into the military and taken as prisoners of war by New Cario, after befriending fellow inmate Bernard to join them they stole a shuttle habitat, boarded a seafaring city and made their way to Italy along with Vanessa who was another refugee they picked up on the floating city.


Jack

Description
Having lived on Abu Merci most his life, a floating city which sees many interesting people come and go Jack embraced all the knowledge that came his way and by his mid-twenties Jack had become a young soldier serving Abu Merci who have set him to work on Machu Pichu under the false pretext of loaning military assistance whilst in fact they are using him to plan an assault.

He has however been placed as a Machu Pichu representative aboard Hope which is causing interference with his task, gaining loyal companions in the crew member has also caused him to question his moral standing, should he assist Abu Merci so as to reduce casualties on both sides or reveal a corrupt government thus liberating both people.


Bernard

Description
An arrogant aristocrat who decided to seek adventure Bernard was a black horse and whilst with Hope from the start he still creates tension in the group with his aggressive attitude though nether less he is an indispensable member of Hope due to his skill as a habitat pilot.

Back-story
Bernard’s father was a businessman who left his mother shortly after Bernard was born and in the eyes of his family he was considered a bastard son, whilst still living a life of extravagance the animosity from the rest of his family made him despise the aristocracy and yearn for a life of adventure.

In his mid-twenties Bernard headed off to the Mediterranean which he travelled for some time though when the Second Afro-Turkish War broke out he just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and became a prisoner of war, this was where he met Abe & Ja with whom he orchestrated his escape with.


William

Description
A South American engineer William worked in Machu Pichu as a researcher though became Dragnov’s assistant when the opportunity presented itself, William is an easy-going guy who gets along with the vast majority of Hope’s crew and is quickly adjusting to their way of life.

Back-story
William grew up a member of the Cannari tribe amongst the foothills of the Andes, surviving on trade the opportunity to visit Europe eventually presented itself to William who immediately brought his way onto a trade fleet heading that way, after seeing the great massive habitats for himself William decided to stay.

Though South America was not advanced in comparison to the rest of the world a high concentration of old tech there and William’s natural fascination turned him into a tinkerer and before long he found himself aboard Machu Pichu.


Vanessa

Description
A tomboyish gal aboard Hope Vanessa does whatever is required of her and is as determined as she is stubborn. It is her hard working personality that makes up for her lack of skills, that and the fact that she’d been with Hope since near the beginning.

Back-story
Born into a static settlement where Greece used to be after the First Afro-Turkish War, it wasn’t until the second war that in her naive youthfulness she decided to visit Africa to document the war crimes which were taking place there, after the town she was in was sieged and forced into surrender she was raped by a member of her own country.

After this mental scarring Vanessa fled to Italy, unsure of what to do with her future she encountered Abe, Ja and Bernard and asked to accompany them as a mercenary.

Dario, Santo & Fabian

Description
Childhood friends Dario and Fabian are extremely competitive fuelled by each other’s boasting, Santo however generally makes himself scarce, he is the most resentful of Hope’s crew and an obsessive hoarder who as a child was often seen picking his way through rubble to find pieces of old tech.

Back-Story
As children the fathers of each child was a businessman, each in direct completion with the other Dario and Fabian’s parents owned vast empires which traded in everything from agriculture to construction, Santo’s father however ran a much smaller company which was going out of business due to corporate greed pushing him away from success and into poverty.

Later on Dario and Fabian bullied the much younger and intelligent Santo into creating and operating a moving habitat and thus the overgrown children set of into the wilderness but alas before they could gain a foothold ran out of fuel in the middle of the vast Italian mud flats, fortunately Hope stumbled upon them and brought the three crew members aboard.


Mason

Description
The highly unstable security and defence officer of Machu Pichu Mason has a high standing moral code, he believes in standing up for what you believe and truthfulness for instance however how he achieves what he believes to be the greater good is very controversial having utilized warlord tactics such as torture, razing settlements to the ground and forced labour.

Back-story
A Greek general Mason and Dmitri were tasked with commanding two thirds of the defensive invasion against the combined efforts of the African Sultans and Turkish Empire in 2775, due however to the betrayal of Dmitri their failed and were blamed on Mason who fled away from the Mediterranean before returning almost a decade later and was granted his current position on Machu Pichu.


Leopold

Description
The corrupt governor of Machu Pichu Leopold has a luxurious life, after having abused an old standing custom of Machu Pichu which states the oldest member of the community - as the wisest - is to lead Machu Pichu, he does this through old tech which has dramatically extended his life and could be made open to the public though Leopold instead chooses to withhold this information.

As kindly pointed out via PM the Alps are not in South America, the Andes however are *facepalm* also I changed the name of the Ottoman Empire to the Turkish Empire and slightly altered the history between The Turkish Empire, Greece and The Sultans Of North Africa. I'll put up some stuff on history for you guys to read soon, after that I can sort out the factions and get working on the animation properly, anyway here's a few screenies from it for you to goggle at

Well I've not done a massive amount on Pixels! lately with work and college, family, visiting friends, my birthday, Christmas, New Years and all the rest but I've got a bunch of stuff on history at least, if you'd post how you'd like your name to appear on the credits for the animation too that'd be good, also on the topic of animation voice actors would be good too, I'm looking for quite deep mature voices with some subtle accent, the main character is Russian, there's of course a few Italians, couple of Greeks (one of which is female) and North African dudes too.

Pre-Apocalypse

For decades humanity continued thrusting forwards on its path of destruction, environmentalists left in the dust but right on the verge of collapse came the collaborative work of a dozen post graduates at the University of Columbia - the pBattery.

The pBattery actually consisted of two innovations, firstly unlike the fission process used for uranium which could extract less than a single percentage of its potential energy the pBattery instead used plutonium and using the new process developed by the scientists in excess of 80% of the radioactive material could be harnessed over an extended period of time.

Secondly they managed to shrink the technology used in nuclear power stations down to the size of a paper waste bin which could be linked to any electronic device and using just half a gram of plutonium any household appliance could be powered for millennia.

A second industrial age came about as a direct result of the pBattery, once fanciful ideas became commonplace, on the moon half a dozen permanent lunar bases existed, life expectancy sky rocketed to potential immortality due to advances in cyrogenics and prosperity reigned, though as human nature dictates before long international tensions grew again, countries in North Africa, long since relieved of poverty started to place economical pressure on the EU and Americas and as each country began making secret alliances with their neighbours and building their arsenals in a situation reminiscent of pre-WW1.


Rise of the Nomads

Finally the tension broke in 2309 when an alien invasion of North America, Japan and England triggered every country with a nuclear arsenal too turn each of the affected areas into a wasteland, nothing was left of the link between North and South America to stop the Skyborn’s contamination spreading, the retaliation however was predictably severe and a nuclear winter soon enveloped the world.

Following the short struggle and collapse of the European Union, North Atlantic Treaty Organization, United Nations and Chinese government patriotism was soon forgotten and alliances belonged to family and friends, essentially large groups of people were non-existent, a few tried to live in the wretched corpses of dead cities though background radiation and squalor drove people into the countryside.

In India as the nuclear winter destroyed the crop harvest and polluted the ground of what was once the most fertile country in the world it wasn’t long before people began adapting to a nomadic lifestyle in pursuit of greener pastures, initially small communities existed as fleets of cars travelling together though as the trend spread out of the region a phenomena similar to the Polynesian boat builders occurred - people started experimenting - people added sails to cars, linking multiple cars together, building on top of platforms, before long massive metal constructs rolled across the landscape throughout Asia, Europe and Africa.


Fall from Grace

For more than two hundred years the habitats continued uninterrupted, rivalries amongst them tense as they utilized, lost, rediscovered and competed for the scraps of technology left from before the apocalypse - especially the pBatteries which could power entire habitats and accomplish many an exotic task, slowly though the lifestyle began to lose its foothold in Asia and most places south of the Tropic of Cancer as people started once again yearned for the lifestyle their ancestors had.

Whilst the ground dwellers were content the nomads continued their relentless hunt for resources pestering farmer’s settlements, over time this constant attrition caused a bitterness to soon manifest itself between those who lived with feet planted firmly and those who preferred the wind rushing through their hair, people started to conglomerate into groups and form societies for protection and before long groups such as the Turkish New Empire, Farmer’s Alliance, Sultan’s League of North Africa and Huette’s came into existence to just name a few.

For the first time in centuries governments and large political bodies existed and as a consequence the first wars; petty squabbles had always taken place but it was only now that such massive atrocities such as the Banupar Crisis occured which resulted in the deaths of half a million people and the complete destruction of forty-two settlements.

Europe slower to catch up on trends remained rooted in their smaller groups of people and as refugees fled to the politically shattered continent it became a melting pot of various ethnicities, one such surge of refugees came as a result of the Second Afro-Turkish War. The first war was the result of the Turks empire building, with the assistance of the Sultan’s League of North Africa they invaded Greece and quickly subjugated it. A decade later in 2784 the Turks betrayed their alliance and invaded where Egypt used to be, the offense was unsuccessful though caused a massive amount of strife in both regions, it was from New Cairo that Hope’s crew embarked to Europe with their stolen shuttle habitat.
