Perhaps drills will, but first shouldn't we use the hand-held scanner to see if there are any actual minerals in the ground?

*The scanner picks up a collection of stones that looks like a tower, but it's leaning. Probably a malfunction.*

Trivia like that would be cool too, while using scanners.

I will begin to research the drills

I need your help with the Metal Foam, then we can talk about drills.

Otherwise, we'd have nothing to mount them on.

Fucking a battering ram

God damn it, I did it again lol!

--- --- ---

As areyoua suggested, we can use the scanner to look for minerals and then drill to get them.

I suggest we take the X-COM route. Lets research what we can, then buy up metals and dig for whatever we can get. With that metal we can make weapons, armor, and equipment to use and to sell for profit.

We're done living in the past, and being Machu's bitch. Lets use this opportunity to strip Machu Pichu of whatever currency they have before we make for greener pastures. For the next few days, lets focus on working to make as much money as we can, while using the resources and loans available to create new equipment and trade goods for us to sell.

Being their bitch keeps us alive, for now. Imagine what they'll do to us if we just up-and-run with their stuff!

A mining drill WOULD be very useful, not only for obtaining metal but for digging out a stronghold for us to base ourselves in. Not to mention the use in combat.

Fucking a battering ram, we'll have a battering DRILL. Same concept, except the centrifugal force of a spinning drill will tear their armor apart with much more ease than a simple battering ram.

...Perhaps we should have raised the white flag and tried to negotiate with them.

...Man, we're a violent bunch, so quick to don our weapons. O_o

If we both start research we will get done at realativly the same time.

If we both start research we will get done at realativly the same time.

Or we can double the pace and get done with a better product in the same time.

Okay fine but I refuse to be a test subject  :)

I think you guys misinterpreted what I was saying. I'm saying that we should scan the ground right now so we don't end up spending time on something that could have nothing to drill out of the ground.

Why would metal foam armor need a living test subject? Physics proves that it works without testing.

(Also, do note that my kicks will be aimed at the groin!)

Ah yes but the results upon the body behind it, the impact might leave bruises or broken bones

Erm, if we have the drill we can mine anywhere. The particular spot we're in won't necessarily have ore sitting beneath it... Its a big desert, and there's mountains. If there's mountains, there's OOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEE

...

We won't be standing right behind the armor of the habitat during an assault.

Body armor works the same way as this would, though, and a big bruise is better than a hole in you.

There can be ore under deserts too, you know.

I thought it was meant for body armour not hull amrour, my mistake

I know :P My point was, scanning right now and finding nothing shouldn't hinder our construction of a mining/battering drill, as there can be ore in the other thousands of locations nearby. It is, after all, only a handheld mineral scanner. It won't have THAT much range. :P

We could still integrate it like that, but there are better options concerning body armor.

Remember that we're in the future, a future where, presumably, all the accessible, useful ore has been extracted, and where any metal ores, if there even are any, will be hard or even impossible to get at with just a drill after centuries of mining. Additionally, Italy isn't exactly known even today for being a gigantic metal mine.
