The thing is- YOU ARE PARKED. In their base. Behind their defences. They only have one rear gun, and it's barely a turret. In fact, it can't hit you where you are right now, inside the hull.

At least steal their mini-habitats (the ones that are a little smaller than you) and make off into the desert. There you shall create an amazing amalgam of habitat. I doubt that rear gun could do much damage, especially with the smaller habitats soaking up damage. Then there's the fact that the huge habitat can't outrun you or turn faster than you.

ACTUALLY, its an interesting idea. Everyone let me know if I have permission for this possibly extremely-lucrative suicide mission, anyone can join me if they wish as 'bodyguards' separate from our habitat's crew. 36 of them to 10-12 of us... 1 to 3 ratio, BUT, we can easily set up a bottleneck at the stairs while our men flee in the 3 smaller habs :P Make for some caves or a mountain and BOOM, instant upgrade. If we really want to have !!FUN!!, DF-style, we can go to the market, buy rifles for each of us, then proceed to the engine room to kill the 4 operators, while another squad (5-6 per squad) kills the 4-5 people who look like they're operating the monitoring and weapons systems. All that's left are frightened, possibly-armed traders and civilians in the markets, who will try to leave with the small habitats while a few others fight us. Long story short, with 10-12 people with rifles we can easily take the entire city by storm, from the inside. Its just a matter of trading first, then deciding whether to take the 3 habs OR the whole god damn city, and make a lot of enemies in the meantime. :P If we do this, the game will go from easy to REALLY FUCKING HARD, as the money coin/weapons/food/fuel/space you have, the more enemies you have and the bigger and slower a target you are.

Personally, I say we steal the city, kill them all and capture whoever's left, enslave them or just murder them, then take the Hab-City into the mountains, hidden from sight, set it up as our own mobile forces, making incursions out in the region using our smaller mobile Habs. Since our massive hab can be equipped with farms and such, we can stick small and large guns on the small habs to become raiders. xD Since we can back ourselves into a cave or up against a cliff, the only guns that will matter will me the massive forward-facing guns. From there, the game goes from tribal bullshit to major war tactics and stuff while we try to manage our massive hab's energy, fuel, and metal requirements.

Its just a choice of whether we want to be small, Elvish fags, or if we want to have Dwarven balls of adamantium!

I, Ehndras, will enter the Hab-City as a friendly trader, taking a rifle and some food (if allowed. Only 2-3) and proceed to the market place. I will stay away from the rest of the group and if anyone asks or wonders, I was picked up by them in my travels when my habitat was raided by bandits in the desert. I will proceed to scope out the Hab-City and when everyone is off in the market or some such, I will steal the small habitat closest to the door, drive past our big habitat, and flip the City a giant middle finger as I drive away. Rather than driving straight out the back door to get shot int he ass, I'll immediately turn to the City's left-side (no windows, MUAHAHAH) and drive off. By the time the city realizes I've left and actually turns to aim at me, I'll be long gone. Those Destroyer cannons take a hell of a long time to rotate, lock position, then aim the actual cannons.

SUICIDE MISSION, HOOOOOOOOOOOO!

As Combat Tactician, I say its a horrble idea because we haven't tested how quick they can actually turn those guns and because getting more than one would be better worth the danger.

As me though, I say do it. :)

I agree with taking the FortHab. It may be more effective to do the thing where you all storm in. Instead of letting the merchants/civvies get away in the TinyHabs, disable the mechanisms of the wheels or isolate the fuel back to your own ship. That way, you win everything.

Actually, we can use the airship to our advantage. Those cannons can't aim for it very well.

And don't tell me the GM didn't specify. Cmon. Those guns are fucking HUGE. There's no god-damned way guns that big can move quickly. I've SEEN guns that big on Navy ships, and my father was US ARMY in charge of Artillery during Vietnam, my grandfather fought in the World War, my cousin is US Army sectional head of Cyber Warfare in Gandohar( or whatever the f- its called), I've been to dozens of military bases in the USA and also in Brazil, I'll soon officially be a Cryptolinguist for the US Air Force, I just love me some boom-sticks, etc, etc, etc.

Point is, those guns are POWERFUL. But slow. Fact is, they don't need to hit US. If they hit the ground NEAR us, we're screwed. Depending on the shell types, they can either easily pierce our armor, OR they're heavy-explosive type shells that'll cause a lot of shrapnel to fuck our shit up, piercing the fuel tank and shredding our shit.

As long as we play smart, we can avoid ANY damage at all to our habitat.

Not at all, join in the fun, man. You'll be my second squadmember, myself included. :) Any others wish to join in the pillaging, just say so.

Me, I'll be heading to the guys handling the weapons' systems first, as its at the top of the stairs near the market and is the closest target. Guys handling computer systems don't tend to have guns; guys hanging out outside said area do.

SO, after buying our rifles and relaxing a bit in the market, the whole group splits into 2-3 squads and we hit specific targets.

Proposed Battle Plan:

 Split into 2-4 small squads of at least 3 members each. Squad 1 stays with the habitats to guard them. Squad 2 hits the engine systems to knock out electrici... Wait. Why even touch the weapon targeting systems if we can destroy the electrical systems in the engine room? Damn, I didn't think of that.

Know what, if the GM says the weapons don't have a backup energy source, which by design I don't think they do, then we can knockout the engine/electrical system, OR just kill the operators and shut the system down if we're keeping the city. Then, watch everyone else flee. Alpha Squad opens fire from the habitat area and cuts down fleeing individuals while we fire from within the engine room, making the stairwell a hell of a crossfire zone that will cut any opposition into ribbons.



tl;dr:

City is horribly-designed, hallway-wise, and is easy to attack from within. :P
