Adventure mode decoration bug
« on: February 09, 2007, 05:17:00 am »

Right now, one of my dwarven allies has a well-crafted iron chain leggings, decorated with exceptionally worked...

Obsidian.

Unless i missed something, Fortress mode does not allow you to decorate objects with any form of stone -- only gems, bones, and metals are allowed as "decorations"

[Edit- I've now seen items decorated with types of wood, as well.]

You can get such things, but only on artifacts.

Yes, except these items were not artifacts.

Do you know the type of improvement job it originated from?

It was found in a [human] shop in adventure mode.

It's just really weird (to the point of me thinking it's a bug) that humans can decorate things with stone and wood, while dwarves in fortress mode cant (and possibly dwarves in adventure mode, as well)

[Also, the world i'm playing in right now hasn't had fortress mode played on it, ever.]

There's lots of stone and wood improvements in adventure mode.  I found a large green diamond encircled with bands of masterfully worked limestone in a kobold cave once, for example, and those mangrove amulets I keep finding in goblin fortresses often menace with spikes of willow.

I think it would be cool to be able to decorate with stone and wood in fortress mode, myself.

Given that decorating is rather dangerous currently given that it seems to make bags and barrels useless, I'm not sure if I want to be tempted to queue up even more decorations. (Although making a piece of jewelry decorated with every kind of gem, metal, bone, shell, wood and stone would be fun, if only to imagine just how offensively gaudy it would be.)
