1st of Granite:
I did it! GRIM SAID YES! but only for a year...ah well. He(I asked, it's a
He) also told me that I could lead the fort during that time to
understand...something about not wanting to endure life, what does he know!
HE'S DEAD! I've possessed the old overseer in order to have a body to control!

7th of Granite:
HARPIES!? NOW?! BUT I JUST GOT HERE...ah forget it...The milita
will...THERE'S ONLY ONE SOLDIER?! I am starting to regreat this already...

8th of Granite:
Great Armok, WHY DO WE HAVE NO MANAGER, AN INEXPERIENCED BROKER, AND A CRAZY
COMPLAINING GHOST?! Oh wait...never mind about the last part. Anyway, I've
replaced the old broker with a more experienced one(who was a woodworker up
until this point) and assigned the book keeper double duty as the manager as
well. I'M SUCH A GOOD OVERSEER!

13th of Granite:
I ordered the lone soldier to fight the two harpies! ARMOK SPEED FRIEND!
also, I've ordered the miners to die deeper into the stone in search for
water! Lastly, sense my host apparently had a phobia involving doors being
placed, I've taken the liberty to order some to be built and used to STOP
INTRUDERS.

18th of Granite:
BADGERS?! WE DON'T NEED NO STINKIN' BADGERS!!! AAAAAAATAAAAAAACK!

26th of Granite:
DARN IT! I ORDERED A MINER TO DIG OUT A SINGLE STONE, AND IT CAVES IN AN
ENTIRE CAVERN, INJURING NOT HIM, BUT THE MILITIA COMMANDER!
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF*scorch marks cover the rest of the
entry*

4th of Slate:
WHAT?! WHY ARE PEOPLE BUILDING A HOSPITAL IN A HALLWAY?!?!?!? Where is Grim
when you need him...?

7th of Slate:
HORRIBLE NEWS! DEATH SAYS I WANTED THIS, SO I CAN'T GO BACK TO BEING DEAD
UNTIL FIRST OF GRANITE, NEXT YEAR! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!

10th of Slate:
I hate being alive again! Yes, drinking booze again is nice, but not if it
means dealing with all these bodily functions! I was just getting used to the
benefits of being dead too!

13th of Slate:
If there's one thing I hate, it's being wrong! I DON'T CARE ABOUT VISITING MY
BROTHER ANYMORE! I TRIED TELLING HIM THAT IT WAS ME, BUT HE JUST TOLD ME(more
like my host) THAT I HAVE BEEN EATING THE HARPIE FLESH AGAIN! ...What? Harpie
tastes good!

17th of Slate:
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I just got word of the diagnosis of Inod! He has an
infection in his toe nail, infection in his head; his left lower arm is
broken, along with his entire left right leg! THE WORST PART: HE CANNOT GRASP
ANYMORE! WE'RE DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED! Oops,
forgot to breath again...

23rd of Slate:
Great!!! I'M SO HAPPY! THE HARPIES ARE COMING! HOORAY, WE'RE ALL GOING TO
FUCKING DIE! WOOPIE!!!

27th of Slate:
I HATE THIS PLACE! THIS PLACE SUCKS!! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

OH, YEAH, GREAT, MIGRANTS, I WAS HOPING YOU GUYS WOULD COME AND CHEER ME UP! FUCK YOU
ALL!!!!!

2nd of Felsite:
*eye twitches* AT LAST! THEY FINALLY STOPPED COMING! WE'RE UP TO 37 DWARVES!
WHEN THIS YEAR IS OVER, I'M NEVER EVEN THINKING ABOUT GOING BACK TO THIS
WRETCHED WORLD!

12th of Felsite:
ELVES! THEY'RE DOING SOME SORT OF JIG WITH INSTRUMENTS, SINGING ABOUT SOME
DWARF CALLED COMMA TOES! AAAAGH SHUT UP!!! SHUT UUUUUUUP! THAT DOES IT! KILL
THEM!!!!!!!!!!! KILL THE BASTARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fucking elves...

19th of Felsite:
OH COME ON! NOW SOME GHOST STOLE MY IDEA AND POSSESSED SOME STUPID LYE MAKER!
and-IF YOU'RE READINGGGGGGGG THHIS I'MFFFF JUST RUN! I CAN'T HOLD HIM

BACCKKK-what the heck?! Tryrar is trying to get control back! I'LL MAKE SURE
YOU STAY IN YOUR CAGE! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHHAH!

19th of Felsite(later):
Looks like the dwarf is trying to build an artifact; he's taken a
Craftdwarf's workshop! I wonder what he'll make!

24th of Felsite:
AAAAHHH! HE'S JUST SITTING IN THE WORKSHOP DOING NOTHING! HE JUST KEEPS
MUTTERING SOMETHING ABOUT CLOTH AND BONES! WE'RE DOOOOOOOOMED!

1st of Hematite:
SUMMER! MAYBE THIS SEASON WILL BE BETTER!
------------------------------------------------
Phew, Like I said, within the hour...barely...
Expect another update sometime tomorrow.

Try using the planepacked glitch to make a really epic artifact. I think it still works in the current version.

P.S. Harpy Problem? Two words: War Bears.

that miasma room you noted was the refuse pile; Dwarves get in diagonally since miasma can't spread through diagonal openings. Check the butcher shop and you'll see what I mean. And I always seem to keep forgetting about doors at entrances for some reason, it happens in every game I play....

Also, you should be careful with the river, it does freeze for a bit in the winter; I had dwarves pathing like crazy over it no mater how much restricted designations I put over it. And I gotta sak; What exactly were you digging out that caused that collapse? I hope it was something epic at least...

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

I was closing off an area of the river to use as a water source for winter when I noticed that I needed to dig out a single block to allow room for a floor tile that in turn would allow access to the unfinished part of the wall. I also roofed over the section to prevent freezing. As for Inod's injuries, after slaughtering the singing elves(I used the Gemclod sound pack for soundsense) we had plenty of thread and leather for the chief medic to finish the final cast! He's 100% useless and I'm going to kill him but other than that, THE WORLD IS GREAT!

Excellent, everything has gone according to pla...
I mean, that sucks, where are we ever going to find a replacement Militia Commander? *cough*me*cough*.

Seriously though, we should have enough dwarves to at least have a militia consisting of more than one dwarf.

Heh, don't discard Inod completely, he's the only one with any real combat skills. Have him pass those on to other dwarfs if he's really crippled. Actually, can we get a screencap of Inod's health screen?

Aach, no! I mean, yes, it still works, but please don't do it, especially not this early in the fortress. I made that mistake once before, and the ridiculous jump in wealth caused Goblins to start siege the everloving crap out of me way before my military was up to snuff.

I mean, I know we could just bump them up with Runesmith or something, but I really, really don't like using cheaty hacks.

This idea I can get behind, though. If we don't have a kennel and a breeding breeding pair of war-bears already, something is wrong. :P

(Also, where the circus did we get bears? I need to reread the stuff from year one...)

I guess I can see that, but I still think it might be fun later in the fortress, maybe when we have adamantine weapons and armor (Or another way of dealing with goblins. Magma Cannon, Anyone?)

We got the bears from embark. It seems this civ has access to grizzly bears for some odd reason, not that I'm complaining of course  8). Oh, and I'd hold of training them until at least we have a spare male female pair for breeding purposes

Really? Weird! And also totally radical.

And on the Planepacked thing, I absolutely agree! Give me an artifact with the entire history of the world on it and I'm a happy camper. Just make sure our military and/or dwarfy megatraps can handle it first, is all.

...And put a pressure-plate between the moody dwarf and the nano-stockpile, so we can use them as a repeater in the interim. That's a little silly, though. :P

The ones we have are one male and one female, do you mean find a separate pair for breeding? Because I'm not seeing any more bears around here, just some groundhogs and an ogress.

I meant wait until they produce a male and female cub, then chain those cubs somewhere (relatively)safe for preserving the bear population. I mean, grizzly bears AIN'T cheap. AT ALL.
