A Peasant's Story
« on: October 20, 2011, 01:42:11 am »

Long ways away through dream and darkness, the farming village of Gneth was prophesied by it's toll-top wizard to be cursed by a unpredictable fate. In the year that followed many were worried that the curse spelled doom, but through continued assurances the wizard kept the village safe and from chaos;
Then one day unpredicted by all magics you were born, were you a boy or a girl? What did your parents name you?

(the rest of the intro comes after this is settled)

We were born a girl, and cruelly named Robert. Father really wanted a son to help with the harvest...

You took to calling yourself Roberta, though.

You were born during a particular celestial sign which was it?

The Archer
The Brute
The Construct
The Dragon
The Exile
The Flame
The Hero
The King
The Lich
The Peasant
The Rogue
The Succubus
The Treasure
The Victim
The Wizard

We were born under The Exile, of course. Don't you remember?

No no, it was the Lichstruct, remember? We were born the very moment the constellations "moved". Which is why we have the Lichstruct.

Of course your name is Robert and your a girl, lets see the day after your birth something happened, what did they tell you?

1. Your father disappeared for nearly a week coming back with a bloody bag of silver.
2. Your mother passed, leaving your father to raise you on his own.
3. The dragon Lithendil was reported to have taken roost not far north from Gneth, in the Drag'ded woods.
4. You contracted Whisperwill, and survived only thanks to medicines from the Troll-top wizard.
5. A lich arrived in town wanting the mayor, and was chased away by the guard-captain.
6. Bandits attacked Gneth, but were turned back but the guards.

I would choose 5, but it seems kinda silly to me that a lich (who in almost all fiction are guaranteed to be undead necromancers of vast power and experience) is chased away by a guard captain (who presumably has a pointy sword or something similar).

And with a mighty leap, the evil Conservative flies through the window, escaping our heroes once again!
Because the solution to not being able to control your dakka is MOAR DAKKA.

That's it. We've finally crossed over and become the nation of Da Orky Boyz.

Hrm, I'm torn between 2 and 4. But I think 2 should occur later on, after our infancy, so...
4. Even at this early stage, our treatment gave us a life-long fascination with the wizard's healing arts.

Perhaps that's the point? Some extremely intricate plan or the lich was relatively new to the whole being dead and magical thing. Who knows, he could've been an apprentice mage who found his master's transformation book.

But yeah, 5 sounds silly now. Changing.

No, use, it was an ordinary lich. A corpse, that is. It smelled very bad.
