Where do you get inspiration? Is it from medieval 2 TW or something similar?
I get lots of inspiration from Medieval 2.

I guess something I often have scratching at the back of my head is "The Masque of the Red Death" my Edgar Allan Poe. Usually turns out similar to.

Urist McPartydwarf: "PARTY! WOO! FREE BOOZE FOR ALL!"

*gobbos rush in*

Urist McPartydwarf: "CHARGE!" *dies*

Rule my fort with an iron fist, every dwarf is expendable.
I don't allow idlers just standing around, everyone has a job and if they have no job. Its stone detailing and engraving for them.

Totally changed my avatar after finding that picture, seems fitting now.

"WE REQUIRE MORE MINERALS"

^ My DF play style in a nutshell. All about the gathering and hoarding of food and resources. I have no clue what to do when enemies arrive/tantrum spiral begins, and frequently lose forts as a result.

Found the macro for my original comment.

In addition, I made a peculiar leap of logic today that I felt was worth noting here.

"Hey, my dwarves are eating all the meat and tallow and getting fat..."

Normal thoughts: "... I should recruit them into the military so they can get more exercise."

Proxian's thoughts: "... I should mod more vegetables into my game so they'll eat healthier!"

zehive thought: military tanks? or burn the fat off with magma and make them more fire-resistant...

decisions...

What are those...?

I think they may be

Amusingly enough, I did a Wikipedia binge on those guys a while ago, so I already have an answer for you. They're giant isopods, deep-sea relatives of the common pillbug. (the ones in that picture are probably dead; they tend not to do well out of water)

Naturally, Japan has already made plushies of it.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Japan: Like Dwarf Fortress, but with less magma and even more bizarre (somehow).
