Hey all,

Might not be the best place to tell you all of this, but I've had the best time battling 3, 4 forgotten beasts.
I sealed the entrace to the caverns shut and when I had 3 equiped squads (not fully, but atleast with weapons and a breastplate).

3 Forgotten beasts were no problem at all.. I kind of forgot what kind of creatures they were, but I think they were birds :p
The last one was a giant Scorpion and not made of some hard material.

Within several minutes 24 military dwarves were all missing their arms or legs, because Scorpions like to pinch.
The bastard never even used his poison.
So I kind of gave up, locked in all the military dwarves with their doom and try forgetting about it.

All the sudden my dwarven hero (killing entire troll squads alone with his sword) got attacked by the Scorpion.
So I check the guy out and it turns out he didnt have any arms left, but was very agile.

The guy jumped kicked the Scorpion dead in a single kick, before falling to his death bleeding out.

It kinda feels silly to send in about 30 armed / semi armoured dwarves.. and have them all wiped out.. finishing it off with a single kick.
Almost feels like you can better just kick those forgotten beasts in the head, instead of axing it in bloody parts :p

Moral of the story is, say hello to the Dwarf Fortress RNG. Automatically pre-disposed to cause large amounts of !!FUN!! with a little badassery mixed in to keep you hooked.

Heh the Green Dwarven Beast of.. ehm Hanging Lashes or something!

I was actually mistaken, the girl who beat the beasts actually lives.
It's a shame that dwarves without legs get helped, but dwarves without arms must seem to take care of themselves.

The poor little girl is bouncing up and down near a well, probably holding a soapblock between her teeth.

Tis nothing but a flesh wound!

My first forgotten beast killed nearly everyone, only to get scratched in the brain by a kitten.

That was my first stable fortress too...
