I just had the best friggin idea ever when using vein helper, change every non vein stone(usually flux) into coal then change obsidian into coal..... dear god hehe already planning on doing this once i'm finished with my current fort. I've never actually seen a coal fire happen ingame is it just myth or has it actually happened?

I have been popping in once in a while to check in, but nobody has reported any problems.

The only other thing to do is update it to the d11 release, which is more complicated than it appears. It is still on my list.

Thats sort of what I meant. I'd enjoy using this with d11 a lot. 40d is unplayable on my laptop, but d11 runs well enough that its entertainment, not frustration.

I will bump it up on my list then. I just saw a technique for getting a fix for vista working, but it will be (hopefully) a week before my main computer is back running. It has been down for a month or so at this point. Gigabyte is not so speedy with RMAs.

No worries, I wasn't telling you to hurry up or anything. I'm really grateful you've taken the time to make a utility like this, just wishing I could use it with the latest test version.  :)

I've joined here specifically to encourage getting this together for d11 as well. This utility looks like it could MASSIVELY streamline some aspects of DF, perhaps enough to make it easier to convince some of my friends to take it up. The UI is kind of a big obstacle, but tools like Digger look apt to make it much more doable. Please don't take this as a nag/demand (well, unless you really want to); it's just meant as a show of appreciation for this subproject and an expression of my hopes for its continuation!

Red, close the embark editor after you've chose your dwarves, then embark and go to the "prepare for the journey carefully" screen and then re-open the embark editor, you should be able to set your points then

The unmined tile won't burn. The coal stone produced from mining it will burn, but as far as I've seen it will only pass the fire onwards 1 out of 100 times.

Red, you can't change layer stone.

Also, you need to designate the very bottom layer before you use the Vein Helpers stuff, just like Reveal, or else it wont completely work.
