While unconscious, Athaerion felt a surge of wild emotions, memories and enlightenment. A part of his mind was coming back to him.
He remembered the times when he was in the Circle as Leon Alderic Lenoir, working alongside his half-brother, Ethan. He performed weapon maintenance, and while he wasn't the best marksman in the group, he knew how certain firearms worked, and how to use them properly. Aside from that, he and his brother usually communicate via parcels, sending whatever his brother can scrounge up to back to him, modified.
He also remembered he used to run a gun laundering service, as well as providing gun modifications to cops who don't mind getting their hands dirty.
He was among the best in the Circle, with his gun mechanism expertise and weapon insight.
Then, something happened.
His brother stopped communicating after being sent to a high-risk operation. Feeling worried, he couldn't think straight, and focus on modifying his weapons. He decided to send one last package to him, acquiring a coat with the Circle's insignia, and modifying it to enhance one's abilities. He also packed his personal weapon, a modified Berreta M9 with it, hoping he could get a response from his brother. Finally, there was an experimental piece of Buster hardware. It was a laser pistol, which he repaired over the course of time he spent resting in his hideout. He knew the pistol's internal workings well, due to him repeatedly disassembling and reassembling it over and over. But knowing he still worked for the circle, he decided to pack it as well, hoping his brother would deliver the package to Shade.
After that, he gave the package to one of his self-made deliverybots, to send it to the usual spot where they receive the parcels.
Then, the rest was silence. There wasn't any response. Usually, his brother would send back a parcel three days after he sends it to the usual spot, but there weren't any parcels that his deliverybots acquired from the usual spot. There was nothing.
Now enraged, he went and asked the other Circle members where they sent his brother, and they told him he was sent after Wei, for reasons he didn't know, or wasn't allowed to know. Whether his brother successfully finished his job or died trying didn't matter to him; there was no response for two weeks now.
He was pretty sure his brother was dead, so he gave chase and went to exact revenge on Wei. However, a bunch of mysterious agents apprehended him and he was sent into the territory of Clades, far away from home. Clades knew he had reality-warping powers; he was leaking psychic energy all over, leaving nigh-indelible footprints for psychics to see.
Interested over controlling his powers, Clades performed various experiments, disfiguring his face and mutilating his body in the process. For what seemed to be a year of torture for him was just a month, and finally, he awoke. He trashed the place by bending reality on a whim, killing hundreds of Clades agents in the process. He also changed the way he looked; nothing is much worse than looking like trash while trashing the enemy.
Unfortunately, with great power comes insanity, and he found himself lusting for power. Feeling he might destroy the world if he didn't keep himself in check, he warped back near the Land's Edge Pub and there, he bent reality to remove himself from existence.
He then awoke, with nary a memory of having a brother, or where he was. But he knew he forgot something. A lot of things. In Kaleno, he bode his time trying to trace back his memory, and rediscovered his hideout.
After the surge of memories coming back to him, he regained consciousness, slightly stunned and renewed. He was slightly in a panic, but he found that Mary was still there, removing Ethan's firearms from his body, albeit they relocated to a safer place.
Angry at who caused this, Athaerion conjured up an experimental buster laser pistol, and traveled to the bank's vault. He was going to exact revenge on whoever tried to transform his brother into an abomination.
