Evolution Lite: The return
« on: October 13, 2011, 07:25:09 pm »

Alright, so here's my Evolution Lite game (about 2 days later than I said), so here are the rules:

You have a world of evolution, inhabited by various species (probably up to 6 at first) and some entities. The entities can include anything that is separate to the species, such as gods, shadowy conspiracies, corporations and so on.
Spoiler: Rules for Species (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Terrain types (click to show/hide)
Now, for the players, the spheres you have access to at the beginning are:
  • Food: allows you to support more population
  • Population: makes your population better equipped to handle the world
  • Military: allows you to fight stuff
  • Social: allows species to form civilisations and stuff
  • Economic: allows species to develop
  • Religious: reduces the need for social abilities and can also substitute for them in various cases
Also
Anyhow, here is the map I have made.
Any thoughts?

I don't think I've ever played one of these. I'd like to reserve a spot.

Also, I have discovered that I am not very good at making maps, so some help there would be appreciated.
Any thoughts?
I suggest spending 20-60 seconds making a basic layout in MS Paint, then making something that looks like it in Hexographer.

Well, we do have some people who already reserved a spot in the planning thread...

I will modify my species to keep up with the new rules and stuff. I'm good with maps, so I could help. You could try Hexographer, but the program used by previous games is different and labeled and looks somewhat sleeker than Hexographer.

I suppose they had a different program to help with the map during the earlier Evolution Lite games. Do you know where I can get this program Edio?

Not that I know of. I haven't combed the threads thoroughly enough to know what they used.

Here's a list of people who asked to join in the planning thread, by the way. I think I got them in order.
-Armok
-Sinpwn
-micelus
-sayaks
-lemon10
-ashton1993

And I might count, 'cause I created the thread. :P

Umm...I have no idea what to write. Could you put up an example sheet for species and entities?

Name: Heme/Hemes
Description: Hemes are small, amphibious cephlapod like creatures, however unlike them they have a hard shell. This hard shell can gradually change in colour as the individual grows and sheds. The colour depends entirely on the surrounding environment. It takes at least three weeks for a shell to change colour. Also unlike cephlapods, they groupin packs of 5-200 for their whole lifetime, which usually lasts 10 years.

Food

Tentacles (T1,10)
Suction Cups (T1,10)
Grasping Tentacles (T2, 10: Tentacles, Suction Cups)

Population

Action: Hunt (T1,5)
Action: Plan(T1, 10)
Generation: Mating Frenzy (T1, 10)

Military
Reaction:Hard Shell (T1, 5)
Armour:Hard Shell (T1, 5)
Stealth: Slow Camouflage (T1, 10)

Oh yeah, I'd like to reserve a spot, and cheers to Edio for putting in my name but I won't be able to post any actions until tommorow because I'm going away for the day in a few hours

Erm, micelus, the tier 2 trait requires 20 points of tier 1 traits in order to have 10 points in it.

Erm, micelus:
Quote from: Rules for Species
Traits higher than T1 require two foundation traits from lower tiers with at least twice the points as the higher trait.
which means that your Grasping Tentacles requires another foundation trait with 10 points.
Or two T1 Traits with 5 points each.

I like the map, but you take a look at the maps of previous games. There may need to be more hexes. Also, if you're good with paint, you should look at drawing a map then tracing it with the grids. Or PM the person who made the previous map (with the labeled tiles and traced map) and ask what they used.
