i killed my first forgotten beast!!!
« on: October 13, 2011, 11:24:36 am »

And it was easy, once I read "eqquipping armor efficiently" in the questions forum.

Full set of iron armor on 12 dwarves w iron weapons.  Only one got hurt w recoverable injuries.

Sweet!

.I didn't read of any damage from blood (of course diagnosis requests would have to be fulfilled).  I guess I could wash everyone by creating a washroom.

Now that u mention it.  I did witness a sort of powdery explosion during the attacks.  I was afraid it was some sort of poisonous gas but nothing has happened since the battle.

Be very careful with the washrooms! If you get the wrong stuff washed off in the wrong place it could cause disaster.

I had the idea to make a shallow cleaning pool in a high traffic area, so that everyone would always be clean. Sound good?

No. It was baaaad.

Someone with blood on his weapon walked through, dropping the contaminant on the ground, and then over a period of months I lost like 20 dwarves. Basically most everyone without shoes on died.

Forgotten beast blood is only dangerous if the beast's description explicitly says "Beware its deadly blood!" - if it has any other "dangerous" feature, then its blood is completely harmless.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

That's Deadly Dust... usually recorded as mauling the hell out of everything in the area.  Though, I think reports of its lethality may be overstated.

IIRC, dust on things can't spread, so the only people who will slowly bleed out/drop dead/violently explode with blisters should be the soldiers.

And if your soldiers aren't sick and you don't know it yet, you should send them to the bowels of the earth and create some carnage.

Why take chances?

Have them killed. Nothing solves a problem quite as effectively as simply having it killed.

And if they are sick and you know it...

or if they aren't sick and you know it...

or if it's Thursday...

You should send them to the bowels of the earth and create some carnage.
