So we are not so far away from the four required towns.

Kingspile could be the next addition. Rothaven is closer, but is better defended. I have a garrison nearby, but I am in no condition to help with anything more than rookie guards.

I had thought I had more indestructible stuff...  apparently it was stashed on one of my dead guys around the area.

Every bit helps.  Even just casting a bit of Farsight is important.

Well, I will try a small raid. It shouldn't matter much. At worst, I have to pay some gold.

EDIT: I tried fighting once I couldn't escape. They cut through my first line in two turns. Enden up paying like 4k gold. I'm not trying that again.

Hmm, yeah, I think if you can't decently hold your own in a level 3 dungeon, you should mostly stick to farsighting.

What I could see were two groups of guards: (I didn't use farsight yet, but I may noy need to, due to the notes on the map)

1 elite, 1 seasoned, 5 veteran

3 elite, 3 veteran.

I don't know about the rest of the guards, but the map has some notes on the city.

I've been doing a lot of that, since I have a lot of priests, I have been casting Farsight all over the place and sticking my findings in the map notes. If there are any targets I should be looking at further out let me know.

BTW how does installing a mayor work with raids? Do I need to bring my mayor character on the main raid and they have to survive all the battles, or can I wipe out the defenses with 8 combat characters first and only then bring a mayor in?

Bring your mayor with you, he'll leave the party when you use the town's stairs to leave, and become the new garrison of the town, where you can then add more of your character to act as the mayor's guard.

What happens if your planned mayor dies in the raid? Is there anyway that can be salvaged? I'd like to use a mage who isn't high level, but mages are very squishy.

How would doing two successive raids work, is that allowed or is it blocked somehow?

After your mayor is installed you should be able to put any one of your party members in their place afterwards. How it used to work anyway.

Hm, have you considered murder?  It's either that or letting it go.
