Enter a dungeon to complete a quest. One move away from the entrance, I loot a chest and find the artifact. That was disappointing.

I'll finish the dungeon anyway.

Im at that SE fort now, Im mapping out the whole map for my intel.
It is seized. I think it is a mistake causing trouble in your backyard though. There is little point in grabbing an empty fort without a Kingdom. Forts are primarily for claiming land. The green guy is pushing his land claims to the fort you just took, he will want it back. So all it does is promote conflict where you least want it with someone who is out of our league currently. He is just one guy, but right now he has 19 characters with x3 XP of you.  Soon enough he will matter little, but right now he has the ability to destroy the garrisons of our recruits all hovering around Ashford, or even seize Ashford itself.

Someone can come take it from me please when you head in that area.

Edit:
It has market/Barracks Lv2. The 150xp/300gold per day isnt worth a lot.

I have a feeling the color won't change unless I am in a kingdom. Both girlinhat and myself have several Forts in the Southwest map corner, and the color has not changed since we took them. Right now I'm hoping it goes under his radar.

Yea it is my belief that land claimed is permanent and fixed. Unless either another Kingdom seizes the "claimant" building/town, then it switches, or the "claimant" building/town is gone or loses loyalty to the Kingdom then the claims fade away over time.

That's not what happened in the east though. The north patch was red, the south patch was orange. Then LLSS claimed both fortresses and the 9x9 patches changed color instantly. But with only 19 guys LLSS can't actually hold onto 2 extra forts: that would need 16 extra characters to pull off. So, he might be able to take it in a battle, but then what? he has to abandon it again. He also has numerous garrison locations in his home area to guard. So I'm willing to take a chance and level up a new generation of dorf lowlifes in the northern garrison.

There was 2 options in that post.

1.Seized by another Kingdom(or ceded) - colour switches.
2.Destroyed/loses loyalty - fades away.

Edit:
3.Seized by independent party - no change since they have no claim to make.

This is what I mean by permanent and fixed. Claims do not change, first claimant is permanent until the source of the claim is removed or seized by another claimant.
This may prove incorrect but your SW forts are showing it to be true so far. The other 2 have come to pass in a few areas of observation.

Im not suggesting we break any sweat over it with this post, I just grabbed his SE as per request also, it is done. But:

The 'then what' if he claims them back is irrelevant. He doesnt need to have the manpower to hold it. The point is he notices, he takes action and it might lead to bigger trouble which no one can handle at this point. If it doesnt lead to anything, there is still damage, since he will consider us enemies already. The gain from these actions is small, the potential risks high - much like grabbing a bunch of red forts in the SW. They bring nothing but could lead to trouble. These actions also telegraph intentions for the future to those people.

Its possible they dont even know the forts are lost. Depends whether the whole Kingdom gets messages about them or just the owner of the King. Red has NPC King, the only active Green guy is not King, seems the King is inactive.  The Forts, it seems, have to ceded to the Kingdom to make claims on land. Perhaps just the King is informed of the loss of them.

Edit:
Just mapping Orange, only 1 of 6 forts I checked are manned.
Kornk-S has a full party at Giantgard.

If anyone wants Castles, I still have two that haven't been reclaimed, at [85,83] and [89,63].

I'll take a look at 89,63 though I think the green player took that over. EDIT: Ok I was right near there so I've seized the location. I notice it has some good stuff already built, like a barracks, so I think I'll man it with dudes to get more XP. This will secure our North a bit. I think someone else should consider checking out the Southern green fortress at 96,95, it might also be unmanned.

Don't forget I fixed up the map so you can edit, add or delete sites by clicking on them, don't need to PM me with updates now.

I haven't looked at the map at all since you did all sorts of Greasemonkey password shenanigans with it but feel free to PM me the password, preferably with a quick explanation of how it works :)

As for castles, I'm of the opinion that if you leave a castle ungarrisoned in the wilds, it's 'finders keepers'. If you can't be bothered to man it I don't see why you should have any claim on it. And if we want to play nice we can simply return it (or well allow him to reclaim it) if he lets us know that he wants it back.

I have an indestructible sling and a scroll of detonation. Do you want any of them?

I'd definitely buy that sling if you're selling.

The scroll of detonation isn't worth much. Anyone with a level 8 mage can make those. It's the Dragon's Blood which is exensive. Each time you cast it you need to spend $50,000 on a vial of Dragon's Blood.

It is handy because you can stick a stack of level 1 characters in there and they will level up predictably so you can use them in adventuring, without having to lug level 1 guys into a level 3 dungeon. If they get wiped out in the garrison, it's not even that important because they were level 1s.

Well, the level 1 characters could probably be stomped out of existence before day change.  So give em a hefty escort.  Though... they shouldn't have too much of a problem if you give em top of the line plate mail.

Also, its either me... or my back row is getting hit less when I have a 3rd front-liner.  Maybe.

EDIT: Nifty tip: If your priest is Muted, they can still heal outside of combat...

Just looking at the Southwest, you guys are going on a rampage there. I'm thinking now would be a good time to switch Allegiance to Green and keep going, to make the situation as messy as possible.

We'll see what happens when the top 3 players all get back online ;D Personally, I wouldn't have done anything so extreme, but it's done now so at least this will distract attention from the Bay12 build up in the southeast.
