You don't need to scout in a radius of 8. It's the 8 specific tiles that are RIGHT NEXT TO THE SPOT.

As in a tic-tac-toe board. You have the middle square, and 8 other squares next to it. By saying it can't be in the 8 squares next to a town, girlinhat was only saying you can't build a garrison right next to a town, in any of those 8 neighboring cells.

89,63 isn't even close to 96,60 so it's not even relevant. The "8" around 96,60 are a 3x3 square from 95,59 - 97,61.

Oh, well, that explains a lot. Thanks for having patience with me.

I will see if I can get enough materials later. How many materials (of each kind) should I get before I am able to build some defensive structures there?

I would advise against doing that yet, just camp for now, because if you build a castle there Land of Lost Souls will see it and probably capture it from you. just place a non-building garrison for training for now, those are invisible on the map. As long as you leave 4+ guys in there it will secure. You probably want to hire some chumps to man it when you're main party is out, i recommend 2 guys of level 6-8 and 2 can be lower level.

Ok the database driven map + editor is operational. Now, you can click on cities, edit their details, you can click on "Sites" which can have garrison + dungeon details. You can also click on empty map squares and tell it that there is a dungeon or garrison there (they're both in the same site structure, as a cell can have a garrison on top of a dungeon). You can delete any non-city "Sites" as well, if they become out of date. I'll bring back the city listings page later.

What is max garrison size?
Max is 8 guys. Also there are 4 total levels to build: camping out (costs not materials), tower, fort and castle

Mmph, looked back and...is Eagle Eye really useless? :/
Planning to make a 2H focused warrior when I get better but...the Shield Bash is tempting.

Well, it does seem to increase the chance of critical hits. On the down side,

"Apicius critical hits with his small crossbow for 3 damage!"

Criticals make no discernable difference.

But...it was said to be broken? So a rank 10 Eagle Eye skill accounted for nothing? :-\ [which follows a 'I've no idea where to put my stats in because the rest of the skills are less combat focused]

Crit hits still make damage rolls (and those go from 0-stat damage). I've gotten more damage than normally possible through crits (stat damage=15, crit for 25).

Hm, have you considered murder?  It's either that or letting it go.

IMO - Im not too sure shield bash is that brilliant either.. it doesnt seem to trigger that often and it is only low dmg. My warriors have gone berserk, shield, eagle and my archers berserk and eagle but im wondering if it might just be better to grab berserk to max and throw the rest into something else. Yea, most of the skills are intel based but id rather have something semi-useful then a minor few % extra of dmg here and there. Im less convinced each day that an optimal build is really required. Some of my characters have crappy skills from when I brought them, some have stats/skills spent in the wrong places early on - Im still wiping the floor on level 3 dungeons and untouchable on the map since most of the "power" comes from upgraded gear. Maybe if it comes to PvP the pure optimal will be required but, again imo, an active player party versus a offline party is going to be a very uneven fight anyway.

Also I have zero luck in finding fancy gear and my super gear is just plain old indestructible upgraded - not much bonuses there, I havent held back my cash for fancy gear, I spent heaps on upgrading, I pushed all my none fancy indestructible weapons to high levels since its all I have found. Armor is standard plate and a couple of ID-leather and one ID-splint thats all. The next upgrades are 12800/25600 which is fairly steep for just +5, not sure i'll bother with that much on boring old plain! Keep hoping to find some fancy stuff but old lady luck keeps saying "NO!".  ???

Edit:
Maybe a party with say 3-7 spent to push div to 10 in all characters and then push awareness to 10 in all could be good for example.  Traps seem to be everywhere. Or maybe push intel to 10 in all and grab the anti-flee tactics. - just some random ideas.

If anyone wants Castles, I still have two that haven't been reclaimed, at [85,83] and [89,63].

Accidentally logged off last night without rearranging my parties and garrisons, and now they've gone all of the place. Fortunately, only one death!

I'll take a look at 89,63 though I think the green player took that over. EDIT: Ok I was right near there so I've seized the location. I notice it has some good stuff already built, like a barracks, so I think I'll man it with dudes to get more XP. This will secure our North a bit. I think someone else should consider checking out the Southern green fortress at 96,95, it might also be unmanned.

Don't forget I fixed up the map so you can edit, add or delete sites by clicking on them, don't need to PM me with updates now.
