How does prosperity work? There are multiple parties parked in Ashford and Aranna and I have done a ton of fighting in the immediate area.
Raises are somewhat random but there are some things constant. Monsters roaming onto the town can lower prosperity. High taxes can lower prosperity. Being unable to pay guards lowers prosperity. Buying and selling goods can raise it. More foot traffic can raise it.

Also note that Mutant has said there is a population limit so your town has to compete with all the other towns.

Hm, have you considered murder?  It's either that or letting it go.

It makes you wonder where the monsters get all that gold. Seriously, RPG enocomies are weird.

I think we'll be having issues with Land of Lost Souls etc, soon. He's taken over the red and orange garrisons down the rhs of the map, and he's cranking a road down to attack the red city just south of Ashford. Clearly he has designs on the whole southeast area we are also after, but equally he might just want to hold back the red and orange players in the short term, which would be to our advantage. It might even be possible to form an alliance with him, if we agree on some division of territories.

We definitely need to keep leveling up until we have a number of high-level parties. What we should do is quietly expand for now, hope that red green and orange battle it out and don't pay attention to us.

If anyone has some full plate mail with 200+ max durability drop me a line, will pay up to 1000g
You realize they cost 9 hundred gold to begin with?

Well, it is also a matter of finding full plate in stores with +200 max durability.  (I recently went on a buying spree in the local area northwest of Ashford for that exact product...  >.>)

There is no longer a level 1 dungeon at 100,69.

It's still listed in my "Landmarks" section. Maybe you need to search for it.

That's not something that didn't occur to me. Definitely not.

Edit: does anyone own a garrison at 96,69? There are a bunch of graves but no other evidence. I'm looking to drop a garrison in the near future.

If that's in relation to the map I made then the blue ones are just proposed locations. I've updated the map labeling to reduce confusion.

As far as I remember dungeons stay in the landmarks tab until you've visited their location yourself and confirmed it no longer exists.

Ok then, I took it out so it won't appear on the map.

Yeah, I'm trying to work out if I should put a garrison there or if someone's beaten me to it.

(Edit: messed up quote)

RE :ArKFallen, 200+ Plate:

Seem quite rare so far, only 1 of my 5 plates is 240, the rest 150-180. Ive been keeping an eye out for some for myself, but will let you know how my own search goes.
Which area are you searching?
-----------

Regarding Prosperity and all that Mutant has said in that post. Prehaps pop moves only so far. The whole SE area is fairly barren in prosperity, maybe you draw pop from surrounding towns only and those towns are all fighting over an fairly empty barrel. Take a look over the whole East frontier North to south its all very low.

You'd get an attack icon if there was a garrison there. If you can't seen anything like that, and it says you can place a garrison, then it's clear.

If we assume that there's only so much prosperity to go around, wouldn't that mean that we basically have to pillage some towns and reduce their prosperity, to have our own towns grow?

No, it wouldn't be very effective, since if you knock down one other city by 20 prosperity then those 20 points would be shared by all remaining cities proportional to how prosperous they already are. So e.g. if there were 100 cities, then on average each would raise by 0.2 prosperity, but it would in fact mostly go to the already well-off cities. So, if no-one wants to live in your town now, then knocking down 1 or 2 other cities wouldn't change anything - the homeless population would still prefer to live anywhere except your town.

In the long term, garrisons might be a better bet for sustained growth. They generate a little income and XP, don't have the complexities of towns or need mayors, and can be built in large numbers. The free/no-building garrison type is probably best from levels 6-19. If I build a permanent fortress, I'd want 8 level 20+ characters defending it. I don't want some other country coming along and easily conquering it and fortifying the location for free. My guess is that it's probably a good use for the high-level recruits you can purchase. They might not have the best skills for adventuring, but they will probably make do as garrison guards.
