I usually equip my casters with two shields and don't bother with them attacking (they still can, though, for some reason). I only use them to heal and draw the damage while my fighters fight.

Hey to low-level players, there are currently 3 level 0 dungeon quests on offer at Evershield (46, 86) and 2 level 0 dungeon quests on offer at Ever Vale (41, 76).

Equipped with halberds and in the back rank, my priests are able to dish out quite a lot of damage without dying. They also don't have any spells left half the time...

Anyway, I've reached Ashford and damn that is a mad tax rate Girlinhat. Should I aim to improve prosperity or go questing some distance away? I'm mostly here to work out what the immediate area is like.

Really? Might have to try that soon.

Halberds are fantastic. The not-dying part is aided by the fact that they have 26, 26, and 24 constitution as well.

Rogue's Haven is offering "Find The Orbs of Knowledge, Courage, Shadow, and Blasphemy in a nearby dungeon" for a level 15 party. The dungeon is, presumably, high-level.
Take note of the reward in the future, as it's a much better tell of difficulty than the actual level requirements.

Also yes, my town is currently being run out of pocket, with 0% peasant tax and like 10+10/lvl entry tax.  Prosperity is rising though, so once it gets greater than 4 I'll stat actually taxing guys...  I also kind of want to run it on low income, so I get high prosperity, and more likely to get amazing quests and equipment.  We can get gold out of dungeons, it's blacksmiths and magic shops that are tricky!

Well, isn't it nine at the moment? I'll carry on cleaning up around there, then.

Dust Grove no longer has a god-like blacksmith, it's "terrible" now.

I have been resisting looking at this thread for a long time now. I tell myself that I really, really, really don't need another time sink. But... it's still going? And a lot of B12ers are still playing? Perhaps I should give it a try...

No. There's been a resurgence recently (for a month now) and most of the people are new.

Does anyone know good one-handed weapons, because my damage output is pretty bad. I would upgrade with a blacksmith, but the previously average blacksmith quit the town. My fighters all have longswords, rangers have a crossbow and a sling, and one of my priests has a halberd.

Longsword is the best one-handed weapon I know of. Don't disregard two-handers, though - halberds are almost certainly the best weapon in the game. I have pretty reasonable damage output thanks to three archers with slings, two priests with halberds, a warrior with a battleaxe and a warrior with a handaxe. I'm considering replacing the archers' slings with higher damage ones, though.

Warriors with berserker rage are very good for damage. For instance, my main warrior deals ~17 damage fairly frequently.

Until I started my quest for better indestructibles, all my fighters had long swords (also, upgraded weapons are a lot easier on parties then on garrisons, you should get them upgraded at least once (it costs utter peanuts to do that, and you can get a new sword later, when you meet a good balcksmith)
Also, someone figured out how to use blank scrolls. How does one do it?
For the scrolls, you need a level 8 caster (priest or mage), and they can only inscribe spells they've memorized for the day. Useful for stocking up on Portal scrolls, from what I hear.

I have that (they're both level 13), but I can't figure out how to actually inscribe.
Nevermind. The requirement is probably stat based though (my div-only priest can inscribe, but my con-int mage can not.)

I think you just need to have some blank scrolls, some memorized spells and use the "use" (hand) icon from your party member list. But I guess there might be a hidden stat requirement.
