The Dwarf Archer I hired has 4 levels of shield bash. Does anyone see any problems here?

Being mayor, I now see things that aren't directly visible.  Turns out, towns have a base entry fee, just the flat entry, and then pile an additional "gold per level" fee.  So entry + (gold_per_level * level) = actual_tax

Ashwood dropped to an all-time low prosperity of an abysmal 4, no doubt because I altered the economics by installing a dictatorship.  Hopefully on tomorrow's tick it'll start raising upwards.

Otherwise, anyone know just how useful a "+1 against demons" is?
It really helps a town's economy with people killing things around it, paying the entry fee and buying/selling stuff.

I figure +1 just means +1 damage/attack?  Not really something you make a big deal of.

Shield bashing requires that the character wear a shield, to use it.  The only ranged 1 handed weapon is a Sling.  Get a Sling.

I've got an invulnerable sling I'm planning on doing this with - should be fun to have an archer making ... so very many attacks.

I did not realize that slings were 1h.  That changes... some things.  A few things.  In the meantime, tinkering with town.  Letting the more expensive guards go, tossing personal funds into the coffers, and paying the advisor a little.  We'll see if the excess of gold and the advisor can help improve prosperity a bit.

Lowering taxes might help.

tossing personal funds into the coffers
Noooooo Doooooon't!
You can lose that to raiders. Always have the minimum of dosh in towns or kingdoms. Fallen kingdoms lose all money in the treasury. There was a reason I deleted my account after I came back to find my kingdom gone ;_;

I went around that town recently, but didn't stay because for some reasons the monsters nearby were of an horrendously high level.

Also, I ahve found stuff in the shops, that I don't know why are there. I found things from bricks to (recently) a gold nugget, rubies and jades

I only tossed in 5,000 which is a small pittance since I can dive level 4's.

Bricks and lumber and such are used to build towers in the field when you reach party level 8.  Gold and jade and such are used for quests for "find a gold nugget" which are nearly worthless.  Or if you just wanna carry around gold, you can do that too I guess...

Prosperity is not something you can expect to affect directly. There is a finite number of people in the world, and if there are some high prosperity towns, they might all decide to go and live there. Running the town well gives you more chance of attracting more people, but it doesn't guarantee it.

Towns from StormTroopers have increased taxes where I'm at as well. It was 10-15 yesterday, now it's 73. It's prosperity also decreased from 93 to 83, even though I killed a ton of monsters around it yesterday (around 3 'kill 6 monsters' quests).

Prosperity is semi RNG, it's never quite stable, and even the best laid cities will fluctuate based on invisible markets.  Maybe the price of fish dropped, or a new gold mine opened.  Who knows!  It fluctuates.  Though it DOES improve if there's a lot of visitors and a lot of excess income.  Chances are also that he raised his peasant tax, which would hurt the peasantry.  I've set my own tax to 10% and entry fee to near-free.  Hopefully the free market will encourage my town to grow.

103 gold?  I believe some of the NPC controlled ones ask for more then that...  Eh, I also seen 2 cities(Staberinde controlled) with 500 in entry fees.  Their prosperity was under 5.
Waspnesse 77,61 (NPC city) had a 310gp entrance free yesterday when I went there with my main party (had to pay because I was out of turns and needed the god-like blacksmith). I set up a garrison nearby though and left my main dudes there, and some recruits can enter now for 25gp, then I can swing the main party in there without paying the high fees.

On that note, if you find Scrolls of Detonation, I'd like to stockpile them for future sieges.

How come the thread is called kingdoms if the game is called Crown of Conquest? I ask because I had a heck of a time finding the thread again after Cheesecake linked me to it last night. :P

So how do I find you guys? I've been delving the sewers, read some quickstart guides and such. I need potions because my priest can only hang one heal if I want to have portal as well but no one seems to sell anything other than weapons and armor.
