Just joined. Looks interesting. Any brief guide so that I can have a clue as to what I'm doing? I spawned in a Mountainhome town.

The person supporting regenerating health, when asked why you can see when shot in the eye justified it as 'you put on an eyepatch'. When asked what happens when you are then shot in the other eye, he said that you put an eyepatch on that eye. When asked how you'd be able to see, he said that your first eye would have healed by then.

Sewer diving, kill rats till your main guys have... around 15 dex, then you should be fine to travel the overworld.

King of Mountainhome here :)
As Zangi said, adventure in the sewers for the first 3-5 levels or so, then start looking for a level 1 dungeon to try your luck in. Don't bother with town quests until you're party level 5 or so. Make sure to get properly equipped, putting your spellcasters in large armour dualwielding shields is a good way to protect them as they are very squishy until level 10 or so. Mages and Archers are very powerful once you get them levelled up so don't give in the temptation of running a sole warrior/priest party.

For advice on levelling up your characters:
Everyone uses agility to determine defense, so everyone can benefit from high agility.
Constitution determines HP/level (or so I've been told, never really noticed much of a difference myself) and also adds to your movement factor. You'll want most your guys to have decent constitution or magic items that give bonuses to movement factor as a movement factor of 5 or 6 (or even higher) saves you a lot of turns travelling overland.
Strength is for melee to hit, archers use agility for both to-hit and defense which makes them easily overpowered :)
Priests use divinity for spellcasting and spellpoints, mages use intelligence. Supposedly there's also a crit-factor determined by intelligence but I haven't really looked into it.

One important thing is that the new update just brought a skill system!
This means every time you level up you also gain a skill point. Assign those skills poorly and you might well cripple yourself. My initial impression is that a character should focus on no more than 2-4 skills (level cap is 25 so you'll have 24 skill points total) and that everyone who uses a physical attack probably needs to max out the War Cry skill. You'll probably also need at least one party member with a high Awareness and one with high Tactics. Of course since the skill system is brand new is liable to be tweaked a whole lot.

Also, a link to a thread with some newbie Q&A on the forums: http://forum.kingdoms-game.com/index.php?topic=167.0

Welcome to Mountainhome!

For reference, dungeon encounters are usually harder then overworld creatures, but that depends upon your local area.  Most creatures with the generic humanoid X face are harder.  Mind you, there are things with pictures that are hard to fight also.

Yeah I noticed you joined up, welcome aboard. Don't mind my theatrics on the kingdom discussion board, I'm playing up my annoyance to try and get an impression of whether Staberinde has a spy-party in our kingdom :)

They weren't being taken over, I reverted some of the towns under Mountainhome control to Staberinde as part of our peace agreement. Unless you're talking about the endless conquest/reconquest battles we've been having the last few days :)

Died, too much effort fighting against people who heavily rely on the day change mechanics.  Plus, no point defending when whatever defenses you put up gets taken down easily anyways...  So yea, I guess we all just stopped when the December holidays hit.  I'm still there though, exploring the map and dungeons... biding my time.

Don't worry, I'll probably be able to do the same once my levels hit the 20s range...  attack easily, but can't defend worth a jack.
