I clicked raid town and ran into the mayor the step away from the staircase.  Kinda killed him before realising what I had done.  I was trying to work out if there are chests and stuff to loot when you raid.  I had no intention of claiming the place so I didn't put my own mayor in.

My party being the Marauding Vegetables.

I think thats the only town I raided today anyway.

Sounds like both kingdoms are picking up steam.

Also sounds like people still aren't getting this loyalty thing 100%. Hopefully we'll have less accidental raidings now that the kingdoms have been established and there are kings to tell people who not to raid.

We need to discuss what we would do if someone of us disrespected one of our theoretical alliances and raided or took a town of theirs. Giving back the town is a given (or letting it be taken back if we need to), I think. Is there any way for Kings to give other people money in-game? Somebody proposed using the Trade Hall to do it (I suppose by having the receiver sell a cheap item for the cost of that + the pay)?

Also important - What do we do if someone of us refuses to stop harassing allies or doesn't want to give back cities/money? Can Kings throw people out of the Kingdom?

Mongoo stole Downstad from us, so it looks like we'll have to be fighting Time to maintain our territory in the Southeast.

-edit- I retook Downstad, and grabbed Boulder Keep as well since it's right beside our territory. Was planning on staying away from Time lands, even though he has some nearby - but I won't stand for him grabbing our territory. I'll leave it up to Mongoo if he wishes to pursue further war with us. He has far greater resources (I'm sure if he wanted to he could drop a group of chars so high level that they'd be unstoppable with our resources), but running all the way down here to hit the southern cities must use up a lot of his precious turns.

Also, now that we have some towns in the far east, someone needs to connect those to the rest of the Kingdom. Claiming a strip of land across to Oldhaven would work.

Kings can give easy quests for gold rewards, like "Claim 1 land. Heres 10000 gold." You're limited on the number of quests you can give out at a time though, I think it depends on kingdom size. I can currently give out 3. I assume once they're completed they let you do more though. Right now I have 3 claim land quests given to some of the people who joined.

And kings can banish parties from a kingdom. Or at least theres a button for it, I haven't tried to banish anyone yet :P


Oh, to the folks who have those cities in the southwest: I extended the claimed land west a ways, but im low on turns so you guys'll have to finish the connection. Hopefully the cities don't rebel. Also nabbed two more free cities with NPC governors. I left one city (Giantsgard) along the way because it had an election ending tomorrow, and didn't want to rain on their parade. I figure if the player running wins it and elects to remain a free city, we have plenty enough cities as is. If it's still an NPC mayor the next time I wander by I'll nab it.

Found a treasure room... with an indestructible full plate mail. Hells to the yes.

Also, I love how pretty the Mountainhome's territory looks on the map. It's all just roads.

Well, given that both of my towns are on opposite ends of the world, Firenymph has pledged to Edosul Nilun, while my party and Candlepoole have joined Mountainhome.

Hey, what's the policy on running for mayor? Do you guys mind if we non-violently run for office in allied towns, or should we lay off?

I personally wouldn't mind other members of my kingdom running for election in some of the cities, as long as they keep the entry fee reasonable. I'm stretched pretty thin with all the ones I'm controlling anyway, what with all the ones I've been nabbing from NPCs. Can't speak for others.

How do elections work anyway? Do they just happen every so often, or does the current mayor have to set it to election? I haven't seen any elections going in any of my towns yet, but I see I have an option of arranging elections.

I would imagine that, every now and then, one is ran. Even player controlled cities have them. This leads me to one of a few theories:

  • It runs after an amount of inactivity by the current mayor.
  • Players have to decide to run them.
  • One is run when the player's mayor is low on popularity, or the area is close to rebellion.
  • When you capture a city, the time for next election is reset.
I think the bottom is most likely.

Went ahead and connected Firenymph so it doesn't rebel, since it was close to where I was at.

Too few turns to continue the connection to the western towns, though. Looks like some of them may have already rebelled? Not in the town list anymore.

I also cut the entry fee on my towns down to 10g per level, since some of them are making money but are still going down in prosperity. I think it's just the lack of foot traffic. Hopefully having a cheap entry fee will encourage more people to visit :)
