I'm not there yet.  I won't be heading there for a few days.  That's just the general area that I'll be moving towards.  You do your own thing for now, I'll tell you when I've actually established a location.

Encumbrance is scaling.  The more the character carries, in relation to their max encumbrance, the slower they move.
Constitution is the main factor to increasing movement points.

So I'm looking to do some quests, specifically finding gems because those are the available low-level quests. Should I go roam in the wilderness? Hope one of the chests in the sewers spawns a diamond?

Stock the gems from shops.

So I should try to find another town and hope I can buy gems from them?

Also, the wilderness seems to be a bit of a lottery. "They'll hardly touch you", "None whatsoever", "Pretty even", "Pretty good".

Just gradually collect a couple of each gem for a start, only when you come across them. Do NOT go out of your way to find them, and don't accept gem quests until you're ready to cash them in. You only get 100XP and 250 gold as a reward, it's not worth running all over the map looking for a specifc gem and returning it - that's a huge waste of your turns you could be clearing out dungeons.

What I do, is I've collected 5 of each gem, and when I visit a town I check the quests and take each gem quest and cash one in on the spot, then collect the reward. After that, I check all stores for any gem I have less than 5 and restock. So it justs means a little extra money and XP that I don't have to go out of my way for.

Ah, I see. I'll carry on leveling for a bit, then.

I made this using a little html and php:

http://jgame.net.au/kingdoms/

It's sort of blank right now, but it takes the kingdoms mini-map and uses it as a table background, so it's a 100x100 table with cells color coded by country. This is doable because the minimap is a png file that's externally accesible.

It would be really cool if people could go into their "Landmarks"/"Towns" page copy/paste all the city location data and email it to me. From that, I will make a database of all the cities and add it to my page above. The best part would be that since this is updated automatically, and the city locations are static this could become an automatically updated map of which countries control which cities. This is on my own host, so it will be permanent.

Any chance of a smaller version at some stage? It's a bit unwieldy to navigate on my computer.

Also, what's the deal with negative turns?

Smaller version isn't really feasible without chopping the background image up somehow, and I don't want to delve into that amount of coding required to work out how to do that. Cutting it into chunks and dynamically updating that as you go would also be too much work to do.

Just zoom out to get the big picture. I put tooltips on the cities. I added all the cites I explored into the map, you can see which are unclaimed now because they have a white background. My exploration has been almost all of the lower part of the map though, I need city names/locations for up north if anyone wants to cut and paste their data.

Negative turns is because it costs more turns for longer battles, but the game won't kick you out of a battle for running out of turns.

Look for artefact quests, they give you a dungeon location. Or ask here for dungeon locations suitable for your level, we can always find you one. Where abouts on the map are you? I'm hanging around the orange country and know a few level 1 and level 2 dungeons. Go for the artefact quests - they add ~$1200 to the value of whatever you loot. I took a few level 1 quests but have moved onto level 2 dungeons, so I don't plan to complete them.

Here are the quest data for the low-level ones I don't want. Scoot by those cities, pick up the quest and raid the dungeons. But check in to cities on the way, you may well find closer dungeon quests.

I decided to try this, and I found something curious on the street of Eastbridge:

~~ Dwarves! Join the Kingdom of Tuonela...for Armok! ~~

I'm surprised.

We were sort of allied with Tuonela back when the Mountainhome kingdom existed 3 years ago and I suppose Tuonela might have continued after we left the game. That grafitti may have been an invitation for those who were left without a kingdom.

Also, dungeons:
Level 1:
[43, 39], [55, 67], [59, 100], [67, 13]

Level 2:
[49, 92], [58, 61]
