You can dodge most things that are hard, check the odds whenever you can.

Go town to town clearing sewers, and invest in top-level plate helms (+5) and plate shields (+5), Those both cost about $200 a pop, to give +5 armor to one guy, and also don't ever need repairs. then do plate armor last, those give armor 18 (+13 better than chainmail), but cost about $900 each. Doing it this way ensures you never have to sell back anything but the chainmail.

Also look out for recruits whenever you can. I'd suggest 4 archers, 2 warriors, 2 priests for a final team.

BTW I'm ready to start getting cities now, I wanted Waspnesse but that's right near Zangi's city so he might want it ... so I'm going to relocate further west and grab a city or two there so I'm not crowding everyone. I'm thinking of aiming for Felllack, Druiddrite, Trueopen as my area.

I've got three priests and two warriors, and I think it's overkill, so two priests sounds good.

Not enough heal spells, I guess. The Watcher is usually pretty accurate.

If you haven't played long a restart is probably good idea.

Start with 3 archers (max agi, max con, rest in STR), 2 priest (max div, max con, rest in agi), sell ALL the slings/sling ammo, this will start you with $1000. Buy everyone chainmail, short swords, buy really good helmets for a couple of archers and put them in the front row, everyone else in the back.

Switch all priest spells to heal, then log off and wait for the day to roll over. Presto: you start with max heals and all armor. Kill rats, make money, put archers onto longbows one at a time, aim to hire 1 more archer + 2 warriors. Archers cost more to hire because of the ammo, so it's better to spawn them yourself and sell the ammo for free loot.

Elven archers are the best!

You know this in your Dwarven heart, all of B12 does. They are just too stubborn to say so!

Actually, dwarven archers are the best in this game. Because elves have a higher minumum Int, which is useless for archers, so dwarf archers have more points to put into Str so they can carry more.

@ crowe: your guys with 30 Con have almost as much HP as my guys with 40-45 Con, and my guys are all around level 22, 4 levels higher than yours. Comparing the results hardly sings the magic of CON in giving higher HP.

Then of course there are my fighters with 18 Con, they never touched it after I created them (so "when" it was raised isn't even relevant or in question), they both have > 140 at levels in the early 20s. Sure, maybe your 130HP guys will be about ~150HP by the time they're level 22. 10 HP the difference.

Yea, the Dwarf/Elf thing was joke, I guess in your haste to de-bunk me you missed that.

Your are now going out on a limb to prove you CON is rubbish theory. You have ONE 18 CON guy so far in that list, one. You also have some guys with 158 HP and also one with 175HP which you choose to ignore and just compare your one 18 CON guy to the lowbies in your pack. "when it was raised isnt relevant". Yea sure, thats why my guys who I know leveled consistently have consistent HP. Meanwhile your data is all over the place ------- of course it is relevant its relevant to know when and how much, not for the single 18 guy but for the others. That was a nice attempt to divert of course.

There is "more than one way to skin a cat" as the saying goes.
You keep pushing max STR, max AGI - do you have some extra information to say why this is so? How do you know 10 HP is not worth more than 10 AF? AF can be gained by the blacksmith, HP cant. You also keep pushing "everyone must spend time in the dungeon" - why? I havent bothered saying anything to date, but I have done 8 dungeons total. Take a look at the list, do my guys seem like they are struggling for XP? I have spent most time wandering the map killing mobs. There is more than one way to skin a cat, I say.

Why I decided CON is rubbish: At higher level (15+) you've got enough HP to survive a few hits even at 18 con, and your cleric can heal you.
Why I decided CON is actually pretty good: At higher level (15+) you've got enough HP to go the entire fight without being hit, and your cleric can be more leisurely and not have to worry about who's going to die next round.

I wouldn't go higher than 40 con, but I wouldn't go lower than 20.  25-30 seems decent for the average fighter.  And some will roll high or low.  Eventually you can get so invested that you can afford to train soldiers to level 25 or 30 if it moves the cap up, and compare which got good HP rolls.

Huh? Projecting a bit? I didn't even register who had said that, so there was no personal intent. Don't project your own hostility onto me, I'm just discussing the game and my observations/data, not trying to start a fight (which you seem to be intending to do).

How do I know the higher Attack Factor is worth more than the extra HP? Because I'm fighting gold dragons in a level 4 dungeon and they never do enough damage to me to matter. higher strength for the fighters and agility of my archers definitely means battles are generally over more quickly, which means more XP/turn. And I haven't seen any data that suggests 18 con has a very large negative effect on HP compare to a few points more.

If I had more HP and less attack power, that would definitely mean slower progress since I'd be hitting less hard than now.

The only time it would matter is in a defensive battle against another player, so maybe more CON for garrison characters. But for my main party, max. attack and 18 Con is plenty.

I just posted data from my party, an opposing view, thats all. Just like you.

I dont really know the projecting thing, or what it means, some kind of psychobabble?
If anything, right now I have a smile and a ready chuckle at hand. I'll try to project that to the best of my none existent projecting abilities!

So I got teleported in a dungeon, found the doodad I was looking for, but can't find a way to actually walk out now. Am I gonna need to camp out in the dungeon until the day resets so I can portal out with my priest, or is there some way to teleport back to the main area I got in from?

Look at the browser status bar, it shows the "sector_id" of each floor tile. tiles are generated starting from the dungeon entrance, and each room added has higher numbers. if you hover the mouse around, and find the room you can reach with the lowest tile numbers, then that is the room which leads back to the rest of the dungeon, there will be a secret door along one wall and you need to search.

Weird...Annoying bug here (seen as a bug due to me not finding a way on how to fix it).

A character leveled up, and I clicked the skill-up first, leaving the 3 points to attributes for later.
It refreshed (as it seems it always does) after clicking the skill--and after that, I can't access the stat page anymore (or have no idea where to find it given that clicking on the green plus in the party screen leads to the 'Skills' page...).
So I'm stuck with 3 unallocated stats. :-\

Click the 'party' option in the upper left, the character list, and find that jerk.  You should have stat points available just on the character screen, as they're displayed everywhere.

It...somehow doesn't display that ._. I did check this before you posted, and all I found was the tabs of 'Equipment' and 'History' (as well as no indication towards where I could find the stats).

Sorry if I missed anything though! :-\
