Kingdoms was the name a while ago, it changed.  Keep sewer-diving.  When your priest levels up you'll get a lot more spell slots and be able to throw around heals a lot more easily.  Potions are actually relatively rare.

You can't get potions in any great numbers, they rarely appear so you should save them for emergency healing. Scrolls of any spell can be mass-produced however, so long-term you can stock up on e.g. portal scrolls and healing scrolls etc.

Drop the portal for low-levels. Go for 7 heals, and trek to the surface for $$$ healing whenever possible to make them last longer. Or get 1-2 extra priests. Presto, you can put the extra 2 guys on healing, so have 15 heals/day plus keep your portal (though I'd still go the 6 extra heals myself).

It's a mistake to start with only 1 priest I think. I tested a 5 priest start and they survived day 1 leveling to level 2, and everyone ended with chainmail. I think the best compromise is about half warriors and half priests. Archers are good but it's costly to keep them in arrows at low levels, since the $$$ per damage is low and you need fast money for armor instead. The best starting advice I think is to invest in 2-3 chainmail suits right away, put the armored dwarfs in the front row and the rest in the back row, try and keep everyone alive by carefully using spells and putting weakened dwarfs on defence mode. If you can't get the first chainmails, move towns to find them before anything else. You should quickly make the ~$160 needed to armor up the remaining guys. This will make everyone less squishy by far and minimize the early hard to survive part.

We're level 2, everyone's got plate or splint right now and we've almost got metal medium shields for everyone. Running 5 dwarves because roleplaying, 2 warriors and one of each of the others. The day rolled over but no one's spells recharged, do I need to be logged off or something?

The day rollover is a bit bugged.  I think it's suffered 3 years of rounding errors.  The actual day tick is about 2-3 hours before what the timer says.

Is anyone interestest in buying scrolls? I think we might be able to set up mass production of scrolls to help out the lower players and give some use for excess spells for the higher ups. We can stick them in a trade hall, but need to know people want them + quantities before making all types.

These would be my suggested pricing (for priest scrolls only right now):

Code: [Select]
Heal/Bless   -  $50
Shield       -  $75
Blades/Haste - $100
Portal       - $150
Cleanse      - $200
Farsight     - $250

And I will buy blank scrolls for $30.

Well me and girlinhat are logged in now. We can use that for now and our own IRC channel later if needed. But the forum thread is nice, because there's a permanent record of the planning. Anything we work out in IRC is lost forever.

I'm online as well, but I've only got 200 turns left so I can't do much. I'm also doing a dungeon retrieve item quest, but I'm not sure if I'm powerful enough for it. The quest said requirement level was 0, but the reward was 1150 gp. I've got two level 4 warriors and the rest of the party (another warrior, two rangers, and priest and mage) is level 3. Everyone is decked in chainmail except for the warriors, who have plate mail.

Is that enough for a dungeon raid?

$1000-$1500 is the normal reward for a base level dungeon quest. The only thing is, only having 1 priest you will find yourself short of healing on a prolonged dungeon raid. You'll need as many heals as you can get since you'll be down there a long time without town access. Probably get a second priest and level them to at least level 2 before going into a dungeon, plus use the time get better armor for everyone. That will give you another ~13 heal spells plus reduce damage taken. Definitely go in with a full 8 guys.

I often put my best armor on the weakest characters rather than my strongest, because enemies DO target your weak point. Also, use your rookie priest's heal spells first. They'll probably get killed in the dungeon and then you won't have access to their spells until you ressurect them.

Make sure you're going into a dungeon with your guys fully decked out with the best armor, and most if not all spells as heal.

I've got 3.5k gold right now, so hiring and gearing a priest won't be hard. The only trouble I'm having is the turns bit. Can your turns go past 1000? Or is that the limit?

1000 is the limit, that takes about 40 hours to refill @ 25 turns/hour. Less if you get bonus turns. Voting on everything gets you 100 turns / day.

There's no kingdom yet, it takes quite a bit of setting up. Just work on leveling up around where you start:

level 1~3 : kill rats in the sewers, get chainmail for everyone, get 8 guys.

leve 3-5 : go town to town :-
- collect a couple of each gem from shops, and then you can instantly fill town's gem quests
- do local "kill monsters" quests. you might want to note the position of mobs near a city as you approach, then take quests and go kill them.
- Never do "orb" quests because they don't give good rewards and you can get lost looking for the stupid orbs.

Level ~ 5+: do dungeon raids of level 1 dungeons. Once you find these too easy, look for level 2 dungeon quests.

We're working on it.  Kingdoms are tough.
