The Shiny Fortress - For a change - All Hail Shinyism! (Turn 2)
« on: October 12, 2011, 04:35:57 pm »

This game is inspired from, many, many games.

The basic plot is that, you, a group of dwarves, are joined into a migration party. Tradition mandates that these parties must be formed in sevens, and you are on the way to Shiny Fortress, which is a new dukedom under the crown.

Players should fill in this short character sheet:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Skills are what you can expect to see in DF.
Minor skills are social skills and should conform with your background. If you are a military dwarf you will also have some combat-related skills.

Updates will be at least once a week. Hopefully I can make is more frequent.

Surprised with the lack of attention.

Basically, You are King jammed into Cobalt fortress.

I didn't see this game at all. Joining.

Name: Hamid "Mechsmith" Orton
Age: 145
Skills:
        Major: Mechanics
        Minor: Judge of Intent
        Minor:Pacifier
        Minor:Negotiator
Preference: Likes sapphires for their colour
Hates: Dislikes cod for its taste
Background: In the Mountainhomes, Hamid was a mechanic. He built contraptions; windmills, mechanisms, watermills, automatons, and even the rare military trap. It was a fine occupation, but he was also called into being a mediator and judge. He was much older than the others who lived around him, much older. He had seen more than a century gone by, and yet he had not gone and killed himself or be killed-a common enough occurence in any dwarven settlement. At least three times a week he was called to mediate. Good for him since work had been drying up recently. One day, he heard about a new expedition to a place called "Shiny Fortress" he thought, why not? Not much here besides a few arguments.

I think the problem here is the 1 week updates.

1/Week is the absolute minimum. I strive for something like 3/week or more, but never want to experience another burnout.

I'm about to go to bed, and will have a character up in the morning, but I would like to reserve a spot too, please!

Downside: I'm going out of town this weekend, and won't be back until Monday. If that's a deal-breaker, I totally understand.

Can't sleep, so here ya go. -.-;

Name: Tode Daturkolad; friends call him Turk.
Age: 46
Skills: Cheese Maker, Comedian, Conversationalist
Preference: Likes fairies for their tiny voices.
Hates: Dislikes purring maggots for their slimy skin.
Background: Why exactly Turk's mother chose to name him after a goblin is anybody's guess. Actually, most days it seems like it's everybody's guess, but Turk learned a long time ago that it's a lot easier to take the insults and turn them into jokes than it is to take the people slinging them seriously. Especially since, unlike his mother, Turk isn't exactly built for combat. Which is why he joined the Cheese Maker's Guild in the first place--precious little danger, and burly muscles optional.

Of course, when the local Guildmaster assigned him to set up a new branch in some place called Shiny Fortress, Turk could hardly refuse. He's not exactly happy about the idea of trekking halfway across the world to ply his trade for some Duke--Turk prefers having plenty of broad shields protecting his squishy bits, and everybody knows the horror stories about what happens to Cheese Makers out on the frontier--but when the Guildmaster says jump, you jump.

Besides, maybe he can go a week or two without hearing or telling any more goblin jokes.

Name:Athor ironarm
Age:23
Skill: Major mining
         Minors
         Conversationism

Preference: Dwarven ale for its taste
Hates: Trolls for their damn roaring
Background: An wee lad in dwarven standards born in the ever expanding lower levels of the mountainhome, as an rather
strong dwarf without other skills he joined the miners guild.
Sure it was an hard work but he had money to dring with his friends, even if the cave mining was terrifying.
and now some daredevils have left an wish for an atleast capable miner, they didnt let their good ones go
so poor Athor was forced to join on their (mis)adventures...

Name: Fekod Nilnekod
Age: 58
Major: Engraving
Minor:Liar, Intimidator.
Preference: Likes creepy crawlers for their skittling gait.
Hates: Hates elephants for their demonic nature.
Background: An anomaly not seen in years, Fekod is the survivor of a secretive mood. Due to circumstances beyond his control, there was no ivory available to decorate what would have become a schist bugle. As he was dying of thirst, he apparently received a vision of the end times. He emerged from his room, drank 3 barrels of rum and restarted his engraving. Instead of engraving events of the past, he began engraving events from the future. Most of what he made was abstract and indiscernible, but what could be understood seemed to be centered around elephants, bismuth bronze socks and hornblende floodgates. His cryptic riddles and ramblings are considered rather intimidating and many are unable to tell if he speaks truth or fiction.
When word about a group going to the shiny fortress got out, he immediately volunteered. His motives for attending this trip are unknown.
