A Pony's Hell (Community Fort)
« on: October 12, 2011, 02:13:14 am »

Imagine, if you will, a magnificent palace. Nothing really unique about it, your normal fairytale palace, walls of marble, golden arches, guards guarding. The standard lot. Now, imagine sneaking through the garden, avoiding the guards of course, and taking a peak through a window. This is where the fairytale would take an abrupt left turn into a horror story. For you would see a massive throne room, colored glass pictures, and blood covering the floor.

For, you see, this is far from an ordinary day in the palace. An assassination has been foiled, so is the word, and the culprit is being punished. But before we get too deep into this line of thinking, let us take a look at the scene, shall we?

If one looked into this throne room, one would see a massive purple alicorn sitting on a throne made of 99.9998% pure gold. This alicorn would be any sane pony's idea of true beauty, from her sparkling mane to her shimmering tail to her cutie mark of cacti.

One would also see a once pretty red and black pegasus, lying broken on the floor. From her scythed tail to her short black hair to her cutie mark of a red violet, any sane pony would agree she looked pretty bloodsoaked.

If one waited a while one might hear the great alicorn to speak.

" Now, now, are you going to spit it out yet, or am I going to have to keep doing this? You know how much I hate hurting you."

"I-I didn't d-d-d-do an-anything."

"*sigh* So you still insist on keeping to your foolish sense of truth, hmm? How many times to I have to tell you? I am the truth. I thought we had made that clear in earlier sessons. But I guess we will have to go back to them."

"NO! No, plea-please mother! I did it, whatever you're asking! Please just make it stop!"

"So you finally admit it, hmm? Good, your whimpering was getting boring. But what to do with you? I can't just kill you, that would be an award. But I can't have an assassin in my kingdom. Hmm, what to do, what to do."

The alicorn paced back back and forth in front of the prone pegasus, some times stepping on a hoof so that the cries would make her think better. Finally, she would seem to have come to a decision.

"Ah, I know just the perfect punishment for you! You will spend out your days living in a hole with a bunch of drunkards and psychopaths!" Then the alicorn frowned. "Hmm, but you would be used to that, wouldn't you?" She looked deep in thought for a moment, the suddenly smiled. "I know! You'll make the hole first!" She beamed. "I just have the best ideas, don't I, Sepsi?"

Well, after that morbid introduction, welcome to Pony Hell, the community fortress. This, as the intro spelled out in no uncertain tones, will take place in My little fortress mod. This will follow the story of Sepsi Crimsiontail and her exile form The Superior Bird, due to events that may or may not have taken place entirely inside her mothers head. This will be a story of laughter, of romance, of watching drunk people fight equally drunk people. Can anyone stay sane in such an environment?

This is the embark site:
If you wish to join, I will need your name, your gender, your profession, and a description so I know how to have your character act.

I'd like to claim a pony. Name, Strongbeard, male, preferable Unicorn, but not required. Military, commander or captain if possible. Uses a spear. Wears a red cloak, if you can make one without too much difficulty. Soldier by trade, loyal to those under his command, cares about his subordinates, but pushes them hard. Believes, in discipline above all, not a glory seeker. Prefers orderly formations, and strategy over barbaric, unorderly, charging. Would rather have the enemy charge into a waiting spear wall than running at them. While not an archer himself, will argue for the need for a crossbow squad to try and catch enemies in a crossfire. Would secretly prefer not to fight, but considers it necessary, will not enjoy attacking caravan's or diplomats, or seizing their goods. A brave creature, fond of food and friendship.

I would like a Pony! :D
The name is Solstice
I don't care about the gender, if she ends up being female just make it so everyone thinks he's female at first.
He is a unicorn, because he's cool like that.
He can be a mechanist or a doctor, or both, whatever suits your fancy.
A somewhat withdrawn unicorn at first, but once you get to know him, he shows a love of fun and likes to write and reads a lot, whether fiction or nonfiction. Thus giving the impression of scholar. His idea's can seem far fetched, but he really came out here to build a unique device that could supposedly teleport people to a promised land, he calls it Equestria, as the name for promise in the ancient pony language. In the meantime he is practicing his skills and trying to find some adamantine, which he feels is the power source he needs.
Solstice is easily terrified, and does not have the makings of a front line military pony, and would rather stay back planning than be in the thick of things.
When under extreme pressure he can lose his placid sense of being, and act insane.
Usually acts either elated or extremely critical.
He can easily encorsell others with his speeches.

"Are we there yet?"

"No."

"Are we there yet?"

"No"

"Are we there yet?"

"No."

"Are we there y-"

"NO! Ve havf not been zere since you started two months ago! Vhy vould ve be zere now?"

Langgud paused for a second, then began to ask again when the guard with them in the wagon kicked him in the head and knocked him out.

"Zank you, Strongbeard."

As per usual, Strongbeard said nothing. He had not said anything since they begain their journey a year ago. Not even when questioned about his name, as no one had any idea what a "beard" or why it would need be strong, and he was not about to tell them.

Solstice shook his head and sighed, and muttered under his breath, "How did I get sent on zis journey again?"

"You burst into the room when my mother was ... you know." The prisoner in the wagon said helpfully.

"Zat was a rhetorical question."

"Oh."

Solstice sighed again and looked at the map, and frowned. "I tink we are lost, ve should havf gone through a desert at zome point, perhaps ve should double back-"
The map exploded in his magical grasp.

"Huh, zat can't be good." He said.

"Are we there yet?" asked Langgud.

"I ... " He looked around at the mountain range, and with mounting horror realized that everyone, himself included, would have been too distracted by Langgud's constant question to pay attention to any landmarks. " I don't think ve really havf a choice.

"Heh.  Bal, a well known massive pervert said. " As long as I get to stare at her plot", he said, referring to the tied up Princess, "I'll go anywhere."

Sepsi rolled her eyes. "Enjoy it while you can, pervert, as you'll be staring at the trees you shop down for the rest of your life."

" I ..., wait WHAT?" He paled. "I'm an earth pony! We love nature!"

"Awwww, did I forget I forget to mention I would be assigning jobs? The chains are only so I don't escape on the way there, not forever."

She giggled as Bal vomited. "Oh wait, we were all told that at the start. Guess you were too busy staring at my plot to pay attention. Anyway, I told you there would be repercussions for staring at it, guess you'll just have to suffer then." She then turned to the doctor. "So can I get out of these chains now? It's not like we know how to get back."

Strongbeard looked at Solstice for orders. The doctor nodded, and Strongbeard took out a key from under his armor and undid the chains holding the Princess.

"So that's where you hid it! I was wondering where it was."

The doctor once again asked himself what he had done to deserve this. It was a question he would be asking himself daily for the rest of his life.

Meanwhile, Strongbeard stood to attention and said, "What are your orders Princess?"

I'd like to claim a pony, if there are still any slots available.

Name: Mobius
Preferred Gender: Male
Profession: Broker (anything that involves numbers, really)
Race: Well, anything, but I'd like him to be a unicorn

Good at numbers and... that's pretty much it. He isn't really the most likeable pony, since he hates any pony without a horn, and while he's quite adept at tallying numbers, he hates his job.
He is a conceited, god-complexed pony, constantly plotting the assassination attempts of nobles. He thinks he's the most adept pony of the crew, and he takes various professions to try and prove it.
He likes spend his time alone, hoarding booze and food in his house, even when the fortress is starving. He hates Strongbeard, and usually plots his death with "borrowed" mechanisms, when he has nothing to do.

Oh, what the heck. I wasn't using that second childhood anyway.

Name: Shutterbug
Gender: Any
Caste: Any
Profession: Engraver, and potentially some sort of military.
Personality: Voyeuristic in the extreme, always on the lookout for some salacious rumor or dangerous scene that would make for a good picture. Carves people's secrets all over the place, because after all, secrets and lies make the very best art, and isn't opposed to diving into memorable battle scenes, obsessively recording all the bloody details for later reproduction.
Basically, think combination war photographer and paparazzi, with delusions of grandeur as a True Artist.

Name: Ramenmind
Profession: Mechanic, failing that, a smith of some sort
Personality: Does nothing but stare at mechanisms (or any non-living thing that spins) all day. Heavily nearsighted. Quiet, not so good social skills, and whenever someone talks to him, usually responds by staring.

From the diary of Sespi Crimsiontail

10th of Granite

Hi diary!

Solstice suggested that I keep a diary to pass the time, so I did!

We couldn't find a shelter for the night like we used to one the way here, so Solstice said we should mine out one.
Most of us are pegasus, so most of us got angry at him! Well, every one except me, Langgud who was bouncing in a tree, Shutterbug who was carving a tree, Strongbeard who was out scouting... Well, I guess it was just Mobius, who said a true unicorn would never be in such conditions.
Laggud asked him why he kept calling himself a unicorn when he was a pegasus and Mobius yelled at him too.

To get him away from Mobius, I told Shutterbug to mine us a home to stay in for a bit, but then Mobius snorted and said that it was fitting for a earth pony to do the grunt work. Shutterbug got upset and told him " If you think a True Artist would do a worse job carving out a tunnel than you, go ahead. I would love to see the
disgusting hole you dig out". Mobius told him a unicorn could easily outdo a "mere earth pony" and started digging.

Strongbeard came back and said that he hadn't seen anything for miles, and Solstice got this depressed look on his face and thanked him. We sat for a few hours before Mobius came out and said that the tunnel was finished. We started carrying stuff in, and Shutterbug started mocking Mobius, who yelled at him again.
Oh, and Strongbeard took Bal to cut down some trees.

"I have to kill this tree"

"Yes"

" This lovely, old, green tree."

"Yes"

" And carve beds and such out of its corpse."

"Yes"

" With this axe, which is also made of out wood, so it would be like killing someone with a piece of their skin."

"Strange way of saying it, but yes."

" Am I in hell?"

" Just do it."

1st Hematite

Solstice said I would be the manager and bookkeeper, since I was the Princess and all. The past few weeks have been pretty boring. Bal has been carving the trees into beds, but everything he makes smell slightly of vomit. Shutterbug has been carving out doors and coffers, or as he likes to call them, "Works of Art". Mobius has carved out some rooms for us to sleep in, and I haven't seen Langgud for the past month, but seeds keep getting planted and harvested, so I guess he's here somewhere.

The doctor's been trying to get Mobius to carve him a laboratory, but Mobius keeps saying " A true unicorn would never bother a superior unicorn!". The last time he said that, the doctor responded with " But you aren't a unicorn, you are a pegasus vith a vooden horn strapped to your head.". Mobius got this weird look on his face, and walked away without saying anything.

Strongbeard has suggested we build a bridge to keep out any stray animals that wander in, so I'm going to ask Mobius to do it.

It's getting late diary, goodbye for today!

In the show: Put a pegasus and a unicorn together, and throw in god. Alicorns are large ponies (horses?) with both wings and a horn, there are only two of them, those two happen to be gods.
In the mod: Mix a pegasus and a unicorn, no godlike powers that I know of.

"HeyheyModbiuswatchadoingwatchadoingcanIseeIwannaseewatchadoing..."

"Go away you disgusting little pest! Your superior is at work here!"

"AwMobiuswhyyahavetabelikethat..."

"I SAID GET"

" But I don't wanna!"

"GET GOING-"

"ENOUGH!", Roared Solstice. " Mobius, Langgud, SHUT UP! I am trying to do vork here! It is hard enough vith the materials and space I have to vork vith vithout you two dummkopf's yelling at each other. Langgud, shut up and make yourself useful, go get the rest of ze spare parts and bring zem into here. Mobius, shut up and stop vhining, you're lucky ze Princess stays in her office all day and doesn't hear you. Get back to mining or I'll get Strongbeard.

Langgud happily bounced off through the dark tunnels, bouncing into things as he did. Mobius thought about arguing with the golden pony, then thought better of it and turned back into the room he was mining. As he worked, he thought about the things he would do to the doctor, and that silent brute, Strongbear. When the doctors back was turned, he glared at the doctor and whispered under his breath, "One day, doctor, you won't have Strongbeard to protect you, and I intend to make sure that day comes as soon as possible."

"Vaht vas that, Mobius?"

"Nothing! Nothing."

"Miss Crimsiontail."

"Huh? Oh, hi Strongbeard, is there something you need?"

"We have migrants."

"Migrants? But we aren't at the spot the said to be. How did they know we were here?"

"They got lost."

"Lost?"

"Yes"

"How did... look, just go greet them, and make sure they don't do anything."

"Yes ma'am."

Strongbeard looked over the assembled ponies. They were mostly pegasus, but he saw a few earth ponies with them. He let them over the bridge a few at a time, looking for anyone among them that looked shifty. He saw one pony, who he would later learn was an Master archer, getting bothered by Langgud over her name, Loudwhisper. Strongbeard could imagine what he was saying.

As the pony's went over the bridge and into the outpost, he saw one stop and stare at the bridge.

"You, civillian. We need to raise the bridge, please move inside the outpost."

"Orthoclase gear of shoddy quality. Number of gears leads to lever most likely being just within the door. Likely lifespan is three months."

The pony then turned to stare at Strongbeard until he became uneasy, and he asked him to move inside. The strange pony complied, and Strongbeard followed him. thinking that the doctor was going to have a lot on his hooves.

Dear Journal
The spot looked decent, and after a perimeter check, I set the Ponies to work. We went the long way during the trip, considering it was less dangerous, I don't disagree, however, it caused Langudd to pout and annoyed everybody on the journey. Upon our arrival, Mobius started acting up, and decided to put a unicorn on his head and act like the "Superior Race." In the end I got my rebuttal.
My laboratory has still not been built.
While speaking with my native accent is fun and good, its a facade I may want to drop, considering they may immediately default to me being some sort of mad scientist, it probably stems from the places history. *sigh*
Luckily I was blessed with a gift of tongues, more or less, so speaking with something a bit more native to them may help them adjust to the environment. I just hope I don't lose my cool to much, I may drop it.
Meanwhile, all is going well, but I feel that the beds have this odd reek.
Migrants have arrived, and this gives me a lot to do. Or gave me, to be precise. I ran some diagnoses on there abilities, and Loudwhisper is a wonderful archer, once we get a metal industry we could make some weapons.
I worry about Langudd, and Mobius, for that matter. I could name archetypes after them, really. Speaking of Mobius, he seems to be getting dark thoughts. I wish I could do something to cheer him up, but alas, to get a functioning fort is hard work.
I'll have to write more later, the Princess requests my presence. I feel like she is tired of all the formality, and is even somewhat happy to escape the trivial requirements of castle life. After that I have a ream of papers to work with and a meeting to discuss the future of our escapade with Strongbeard and some other ponies.

Mobius' Journal, first entry.

It is pathetic of me, an alicorn in the making, to be writing a few notes of history in this material invention you call a journal.

First off, the area we embarked upon is nice, fit for a ruler in the making, such as I, but this area's inhabitants are less than pleasant.

I am SURROUNDED BY IDIOTS EVERYWHERE, a so-called "genius" doctor who goes by the name of Solstice, a brute by the name of Strongbeard, an incompetent red pegasus who calls herself Sepsi, an idiotic earth pony who calls himself Shutterbug, and a... I forgot what his role was, pony who goes by the name of Langgud.

That day, on the tenth of granite, they tasked Shutterbug to carve a hole for us to live in. That goes to show how pathetically incompetent they are, not being able to cut such a magnificent tunnel on their own, and asking a mere earth pony to do it instead.

I told that hornless dolt that it was fitting for an earth pony such as himself to do the grunt work for us. Amazingly, he retorted, saying that "If you think a True Artist would do a worse job carving out a tunnel than you, go ahead. I would love to see the disgusting hole you dig out"

What nerve, saying that to your superior, a unicorn with wings.

I took his challenge and said "I could easily outdo an idiotic hornless earth pony, such as you." and grabbed a pick to start digging.

I wanted to prove that I am the best. Oh how right I was, as I finished digging the tunnels in such a short amount of time.

After a few days, trying to ignore the hornless pests and their pestering, Solstice asked me to carve him out a laboratory. I declined, saying "A true unicorn would never bother a superior unicorn such as myself." Who does he think I am? A miner? No, I am not a miner. Such a task is only fitting for those idiotic earth ponies, who have no abilities aside from populating the world with useless idiots everyday.

"But you aren't a unicorn, you are a pegasus vith a vooden horn strapped to your head."

For once, the know-it-all was right. I'm not a unicorn... not yet. Oh how he will regret saying that in front of me, when I get a nice, shiny horn embedded on my forehead. He will pay. Someday.

Having no way to counter his statement, I walked away from him, ashamed.

For now, I'm plotting the death of this Sepsi Crimsontail idiot and usurp her position. But thinking about it, she has one supporter. She has that brute, Strongbeard, on her side and I'm sure I won't be able to enact my plans if he isn't dead from an "accident" yet.

Plus, I have a personal vendetta against barbarians such as himself, one of them having rudely commented about my lack of a horn and my nature, back in the day.

This will be fine, for now, and I shall snoop around his secrets and figure out a way to dispose of him, then kill Sepsi after.

For now, I'll need to ask the idiots to make a ton of mechanisms, so as to make an efficient "irrigation system" later on.

They will learn to fear the mighty winged unicorn... no... Alicorn, called Mobius... soon enough. They will learn to worship their god.

I can already see that day coming. It is coming, very soon...
