Mainly war captives and random human peasants that you've brainwashed into your perfectly loyal soldiers. Many of them has also passed through a ritual to copy the skills of master soldiers into them from the brain of a dead one you managed to get your hands on.

My army is made up of prisoners and criminals of elven, orcish, human, and dwarven descents. I've brainwashed them into accepting commands and thinking that they volunteered to do this. That hurt. I can do that because I'm a freaking battle-mage! Course I'm known to be charismatic and good with the ladies...
